Game 42 Tigers vs. A's May 16, 2019

Maybe we can beat Miami after this series. They have only won 10 games this year. 10-31. Man, that is bad. On pace for 40 wins. 3 less than us back in 2003.

Miami has scored 105 runs in 41 games (2.56 runs per game). Their offense makes ours look like the 1927 Yankees.

This may be the first year since about 2002 that I don’t go to a single game. It’s unwatchable and not a single player on the roster interests me in the slightest.

James McCann

93 AB
.366 AVG .404 OBP .581 SLG .985 OPS

what's probably more impressive

vs RHP
66 AB
.353 AVG .939 OPS

I read they saw a flaw in his swing and corrected it early in spring. Now the dude is out hitting every single person in our line up

Too bad no one in Detroit noticed that in the 4 years he was up. That's Legendary Lloyd for ya.

I think we are about to see the wheels fully come off. A laudable effort in the first quarter but this offense is the worst in team history

I think we are about to reflect on the Randy Smith era as a time of genuine nostalgia compared to the next several seasons, or decades. CI will not open the checkbook for FAs, and he will not compete with any players one they are UFAs. Tigers are the team under the "50-feet of crap" that Billy Beane "described" in the movie Moneyball.

Pretty much, this is a fluke. Eventually, he will regress closer to normal. All his metrics do not suggest a change other than taking a pitch the other way and not pulling the ball. I am not sure he will sustain it over a full season.

we don't know if he is going to spend on FA or not. He hasn't been put in that position yet.

I'm reasonably certain that he will not compete for the A list, ever, and will view FAs as "complementary" signings.

My guess is he waits until after 2020 when Zimm is off the books. At that point, we should be seeing what our young pitching staff is made of. Hopefully sign an impact bat and possibly compete in 2021.

Oh yeah I figured as much. Just frustrating to see him leave Detroit and then be out hitting every guy on our team. For his sake I hope he keeps it up, cause I like him a lot as a player. He always played hard.

While McCann will probably revert back to his terrible self at least he is hitting after he got away from McClendon. I always felt he would be decent in a platoon situation maybe.
It is frustrating watching Ex-Tigers hit while out our team is at the bottom of the league in hitting in most categories.

Not much in the minors either. They were talking about the White Caps hitting on the radio the other night and how bad it was .

If by "A list" you mean guys like Machado, Harper...good, the Tigers shouldn't be going after guys like that.

We also won't see Verlander, Castellanos, J.D. Martinez, or even Avisail Garcia back here, either.

Just have this nagging feeling that we are in only the third season of maybe a decade+ of bad to mediocre @ best baseball w/o fielding any contending teams. I suppose that we will know for sure by 2021 when the Tigers' brass rebuilding excuse won't work anymore.

Yanno that things are bad when your hometown's best hope for a pro-sports contender is from an NFL franchise which has all of 2 division championships and only 1 playoff win in more than 60 years.

This 2019 season when completed, will officially mark the longest championship drought in franchise history @ 35 years, surpassing 1901-34.
