Fiers pc after 2 innings 50, we will see the bp in this game. some thing that bugs me is how the Tigers out fielder does not back up infielders on pop ups! Martin was headed for the bench as Machado was catching the pop up, Martin was all most beside, in front of him. Did not see where Nick was. But seen this happen in other games!

I'm confused on the play where the M's OF caught the ball in the stands. Goodrum tagged on second and scored. Why did the ump send him back to 3rd?

Major League Baseball rule 6.05 (a)
A fielder may reach into, but not step into, a dugout to make a catch, and if he holds the ball, the catch shall be allowed. A fielder, in order to make a catch on a foul ball nearing a dugout or other out-of-play area (such as the stands), must have one or both feet on or over the playing surface (including the lip of the dugout) and neither foot on the ground inside the dugout or in any other out-of-play area. Ball is in play, unless the fielder, after making a legal catch, falls into a dugout or other out-of-play area, in which case the ball is dead.

In the case of a dead ball, the runners would be permitted to advance one base after tagging up.

one of many stupid rules in MLB. The fielder is taking a risk by catching a foul ball near the stands. If he takes that risk and falls in the stands, the runner should be able to tag up and take as many bases as he wants until the defensive player gets the ball in.

Maybe if I was a fan nearby I try and swipe the ball and chuck it up the stands away from the player then :)
