The Bless You Boys SB Nation website has NOT updated their homepage with today's game preview as of 12: 15 pm....someone is dropping the ball over there.
Maybe the site will eschew a pregame for this:

A gamethread has just been posted on BYB so its not totally dead on the holiday.
Tigers are now a gaping 210 Rdiff behind the ALCD-leading twins, who currently possess the best record in all of MLB. That posted, ESPN and MLB HQ must be giddy over having nearly all of their large-market franchises in contention or leading their respective divisions, although I am sure that they would much rather have the red sox or better still the Trout-led angels clinching a homegame WC berth, instead of the rays at the end of the regular season.
This series may well help to determine which one is worse, if not ultimately the worst team in MLB. Both are close in negative Rdiff, given that the orioles have not only played in 3 more games than the Tigers, but also face tougher opponents more often by being in the AL East. The AL Central cellar-dwelling royals are only -41 Rdiff, not even half of what those two are at. (-99 and -108)
I see the Ilitch clan emulating the small-market royals, rays, twins, a's and indians, in that they will no longer spend $$$ on FAs, and will trade their star players away for prospects, as soon as they start getting too expensive with longer contract extension demands/expectations. The BIG problem with that approach is that their scouting, advanced analytics, and player development SUCK!! I have always wanted the Tigers to emulate the mid-market cardinals, a franchise who manages to have so many open windows of contention for decades w/o loooong intervals of "rebuilding" but the owners that they have had in Tom Monaghan and Mike Ilitch let their farm system and franchise go to seed instead.
