Game 7 - Falcons @ Lions Thread

Get Backus and Cherilus out of here.. Definitive Millen picks that have only started because of the trash depth we have.. Raiola has been decent at times, but he's a zone block player and too small to anchor and effective inside run game, plus he's getting a bit up there in age.. Time to get some new blood.. we all know Peterman and the musical chairs at the other Guard spot are trash as well and John Fox is looking like he's injured all the time anyways.. 5 picks on the line IMO atleast..

wow....

first off, its jason fox, and no he doesnt look promising as a future LT prospect for the Lions. RT maybe...if he can stay healthy.
cherilus, at times has looked atrocious, but is still proving himself coming off a knee injury. Rob Sims is a fucking road grader, better than weve had at LG for yrs......

feel free to rip apart peterman, sackus, and raiola

It doesn't matter how mediocre a pass defense is when they out number receivers 2 to 1. Why do you think he was throwing check downs so often? Wow hes a number 1 overall pick he better be Peyton or gtfo. Even CJ couldn't stretch that defense. Moss in his prime couldn't. Until this team can run the ball up a teams throat teams will play overtop and try their best to take away the intermediate throws and leave dump offs. Notice how staff was squeezing balls in between 3 while they were in their zone? How hard is that and is it realistic every play? No. Simple and plain. What could he do?
Simply put a great QB can dissect a zone defense regardless of how many defenders are back.. Especially considering most of their secondary is mediocre.. Yes the linebacking core is very good, but Weatherspoon is the only good one they have for coverage.. Stafford is not great, atleast not yet or if he'll ever will be.. He has a very good receiving core overall.. CJ, Burleson, Young, Scheffler and Pettigrew is enough of a threat to find a hole in a defense that while did send 8 back at times, had a mediocre Defensive Backfield.. I'm sorry but he did not get the job done this game.. There were a few wide open players he missed and he didn't even get hurried that often.. I wouldn't have complained as much if the defensive 4 of the Falcons were getting constant pressure, but they weren't.

If we don't go Oline in next years draft i'm going to shit a brick. I could see DE or a corner but OL has to be the pick..

To put this bluntly yeah he didn't play exceptionally well but either they weren't open and he tried to force it or they dropped the fucking ball. You need to give Atl more credit, they had a gameplan and it worked.

They weren't the only team that did it.. ANd yeah Burleson has choked the big one the last few weeks.. Almost as responsible as Stafford for this loss.. He is stealing his paycheck atm..

His strategy is best player available and it will continue to be just that.

Then let us pray its an OT...

If you sit back in a shell zone all game and bracket CJ.....then you should be running zone busting routes on the other side of the field. I thought thats why we drafted Titus Young....but i dont recall him being a deep threat yet this year so i guess im the dumb one.

They exploited this teams weakness. You have to give Atlanta credit for that. They didn't miss tackles, they had a gameplan and executed it. We were in the game the whole time, and had a chance to tie it in the final minutes. Lions did a good job of protecting the ball, but they just didn't make the plays. Part of it was on the lions, and part of it was a good gameplan against them.

Now if we can't beat Denver then I'll start to be worried.
