kaline mentioned he will be gone the rest of the day, so here is this afternoon's game thread.

Tigers Lineup:
Jackson CF
Berry LF
Cabrera 3B
Fielder 1B
Dumbass Delmon DH
Avila C
Raburn 2B
Don ****in' Kelly RF
Little Buddy SS

Smyly P

Why Kelly is starting in RF instead of Raburn being out there is beyond me, as is the reason that Peralta is sitting today with the ASB next week. Leyland confuses the hell out of me.

If someone else would like to post the gameday and whatnot when it goes up that'd be nice, Im packing to leave town for 10 days. Hopefully we can win.

This is how I feel about this lineup from 1-9.

Wow, this lineup is putrid. Let's see if Smyly can keep from giving up the long ball again today.

7-8 confuse me as well, why in the hell is raburn getting a start against a RH and how does Don Kelly get a start in RF and now that we've got two hitting coaches can one of the please get BB sorted out. TIA

Both JP and BB had nice hits in their last AB's last night to, let's give em a day off. LOL.

Other than the top 4 in the line up it really doesn't matter...the rest of this team is garbage.

At this point I really cant complain about the bat boy starting in place of Boesch.

The Raburn vs. RHP thing is a myth, when he's on he hits both, I dunno if he's on or not but it's not like we're loaded with awesome bats anyways.

Another if on Raburn. Well, if he was Babe Ruth he'd be good.

The thing about Raburn and his shitty season are his power numbers. 1 lousy home run. I could take .200 if you hit a bomb now and again.

We have to land a serviceable 2B by the trade deadline. I think Raburn gets cut soon, especially if that happens.

yeah i hope we grab a starter and a second basemen but we also need to figure out a OF/DH spot... Things are so up in the air with the Dirks injury not sure which way DD wil go..

JP must need a rest ....Right???... RR at second base makes no sense ever... Wish he would start hitting some homers and driving in some runs if he is going to play..

Detroit Tigers outfielder Andy Dirks delayed in return to baseball activities.

June 29th.

-- It has been a month since Andy Dirks last played in a game.

It will be a while longer before he plays in his next one.

The Detroit Tigers were hopeful that Dirks would take the next step in his rehabilitation from an Achilles injury Friday after he saw Dr. Chris Zingas, a foot and ankle specialist, in Detroit.

But Dirks still has tenderness in his Achilles and will be in a walking boot for at least another week, head athletic trainer Kevin Rand said Friday afternoon.

"Obviously, I was very hopeful that he would be able to come out of the boot today and be able to start initiating baseball activity," Rand said. "But he's just not ready for that yet, unfortunately."

Dirks went on the disabled list May 31 with right Achilles tendinitis. Rand said Dirks is currently able to use a treadmill and would start a running program once the boot is removed. He will also undergo shock wave therapy.

"Shock wave therapy is one of the treatments you use in this type of condition at this point when it's been kind of a bit slow to come around," Rand said. "It's another step."

Considering how long Dirks has been out of action, it will take a while for him to get back into the lineup even after he gets the walking boot removed.

"When he does come out of that boot, then we're going to have to put him through the same drills that he was actually going through prior to going into it," Rand said. "He'll have to show us he can do those before we get him back swinging the bat and getting him into baseball activity."

Dirks was a pleasant surprise for the Tigers before going on the disabled list. He entered spring training in a competition with Clete Thomas for the final roster spot, but he won that spot and never looked back.

Dirks is hitting .328 (44-for-134) with 15 extra-base hits, 16 RBIs and an .894 OPS in 37 games for the Tigers.

He's had an 800+ OPS since his recall, pretty hard to complain about.

3 runs and only 1 rbi since come back on June 14th.... Maybe today he hits a 3 run homer!!!!!!

And he has raised his numbers from .159 /.219 /.230 /.449 to .179 /.233 /.258 /.491 so there is always hope... But he did have a horrible game in the field at second in Texas. I would prefer him in right then second every time. The biggest concern with RR is his overall numbers have come down every year since 2009, and OBP numbers are really down....359, .340, .298, to .233 the last four years....

GO MUDHEN TODAY IS THE DAY!!!!!!!!
