Game 79 Game Thread: Tigers @ Rays, July 1

But you don't pull him after a run. That's crazy.

No, I was not arguing gotimes point.

Just that Smyly should be on a short leash, he gives up too many earned runs for as few innings as he makes per start.

Is it the pitchers or does it seem Avila isn't throwing too many base runners out trying to steal?

Short leash is one thing, not a 1 inning 1 run leash.

3 runs and only 1 rbi since come back on June 14th.... Maybe today he hits a 3 run homer!!!!!!

And he has raised his numbers from .159 /.219 /.230 /.449 to .179 /.233 /.258 /.491 so there is always hope... But he did have a horrible game in the field at second in Texas. I would prefer him in right then second every time. The biggest concern with RR is his overall numbers have come down every year since 2009, and OBP numbers are really down....359, .340, .298, to .233 the last four years....

GO MUDHEN TODAY IS THE DAY!!!!!!!!

RBI are mostly dependent on someone being in scoring position when you get your PA, and hitting in the back of the order makes that more difficult.

The fact he has 4 doubles in 7 starts (before today) is a pretty good sign.

Fair enough but a short short leash is still like 4-5 innings. No manager wants his BP to get warn out.

No, but we can't afford to lose games to save the BP, plus Below and BV are both well rested.

Still one run. Like I said 4-5 innings of BP use is easier to deal with than say 8. You still mad at me Thumb?

Matsui should hang them up too, a DH only guy who can't hit anymore.

Cleveland up 4-0 in the 4th. Sox up 2-0 after the first.
