Tigers SP: Soto, Gregory

nationals SP: voth, austin

Both pitchers are relative noobs in MLB, but since voth is starting vs the Kitties, he is likely to look like a RoY and/or Cy candidate.

Meanwhile...the Tigers brass is bloviating accolades on the 35th anniversary of their last championship team on CoPa's infield, pregame...imagine if the yankees or cardinals did likewise...they both would need to fete the anniversary of some past champ team every single year.

Being dead last in homer-hitting so far this season, has resulted in few chances for Tigers fans to win free small curly fries from their local Arbys FF outlet...and less business for the franchise owners...maybe they should offer free regular-size fries If someone in the lineup somehow manages to hit A homer in a game.

2 singles=first and third for the nats already w/one out in the first inning.

Soto vs soto...who pops out to shallow left.

Shocker ....Nicky makes a running grab of a flyball to deep right-center to end the threat.

voth walks the leadoff batter Jones...can they cash in?

Nope---JaCoby trips trying to take a lead off first, gets tagged out in a rundown...ugh!!

Rightfielder eaton makes a sliding catch in far-deep rightfield to rob Migwell of an xb hit.

Damn that was close but ss Goodrum throws out dozier @ first on a bouncer to his far left.

Then ends the inning on a much easier throw.

Stewie leads off the bottom second...flies out to near the warning track in far leftfield.

Jeimer Ks, swinging.

a couple of young ladies trying to fan themselves with programs...CoPa is a hotbox in the summer early afternoons.

Tigers go down 1-2-3.

Shep sucks @ playcalling...he jawjacks about stuff that the color guy should be saying.

rondon homers leading off the top 4th...1-zip.

Hardy warming in the BP...Soto @ 53 pitches.

Nats soto takes third on a flyout to right by zimmerman.

dozier rbi doubles to left 2-0 annd Gardy gets tossed while still jabbering about soto being walked on a strike 3 before full count.

Hardy in relief of Soto with two outs and a RISP on second.

Walks the first batter that he faces in gomes.

3-0 on an rbi single by robles.

turner Ks swinging for the third out...slams his helmet and bat on the ground..lolz.

Dave Rozy is all white-haired and goateed...and looking older than me...although we are about the same age and height. Never forget him turtling after Dave Winfield was HBP and 6' 8" Davy charged at 6' 5" Davy on the mound.

Cabby and Stewie w/back to back singles, Jeimer too w/one out...bases loaded and is their first real threat of the game.

RonRod flies to shallow right.

3-0 count on Niko....and he walks a run in...and the Tigers are ON the board.

Hicks.......Ks looking AGAIN.

Migwell comes through with a 2 rbi single to right....tie game 3-3.

Jeimer forces Cabby at third.

This has been one of the very few competitive games that the Tigers have played in quite awhile.

Bases loaded for Hicks....who Ks for the THIRD time. He needs to go sit on the bench for awhile.

In other news Miggy passed steroider Sosa for all-time RBIs and is 27th...next up is former Yank cum Tiger cum Met Gary Sheffield....who also admitted to smearing a substance on his skin...but claimed that he didn't know what it was...maybe it just was some kinda magic muscle liniment!!

Sosa was also the fictional surname of the Columbian cartel cocaine kingpin in the early-80s movie Scarface.

If I counted correctly the Tigers are 14-4 when they score 5 runs or more. The problem is we've only scored 5 runs or more in 23% of the games we've played.
