Tate caught seven passes for a game-high 113 yards and Jones added seven catches for 107 yards and two touchdowns as the Lions came away with points on six of their eight offensive possessions. Jones now has 18 catches for 388 yards and four scores in three games against the Packers as a Lion.
A?Shawn Robinson blocked a low Mason Crosby field goal on the opening drive, a play that Quin said was ?demoralizing? to a Packers team that moved the ball with ease on its opening possession.
The Lions nearly went three-and-out on the ensuing drive, but Packers defensive tackle Mike Daniels was called for unnecessary roughness for head-butting Travis Swanson after a third-and-14 incompletion and that seemed to jumpstart the Lions offense.
After Stafford?s touchdown pass to Jones, Ameer Abdullah scored on a 4-yard run to give the Lions a 14-0 lead, Jones caught his second touchdown pass of the day from 11 yards out, and Matt Prater added three field goals.
Stafford connected with Marvin Jones on a beautiful 25-yard touchdown pass to give Detroit an early 7-0 lead against Green Bay at a frigid Lambeau Field. It was the 200th touchdown of his career, making him the only quarterback in team history to achieve the milestone.
At 29 years old, he becomes just the fourth quarterback in NFL history to throw for 200 TDs before his 30th birthday. Dan Marino (245 touchdowns), Peyton Manning (244) and Brett Favre (218) are the others.
In terms of games played, Stafford is the sixth fastest QB in history to reach 200 touchdown passes. Marino did it the quickest (89 games), followed by Aaron Rodgers (99), Manning (106), Favre (107) and Tom Brady (116 games).
Stafford, who is playing in his 117th game, has set all sorts of records in his nine years with the Lions. He already owns every notable team passing mark, plus was the fastest QB in NFL history to 30,000 passing yards.
The Detroit Lions went 23 years without a win in cheese country. Now they've done it twice in three seasons, and preserved their fragile playoff hopes in the process.
Detroit (4-4) snapped a three-game losing streak with the victory, got back to .500 and closed to within two games of the Minnesota Vikings (6-2) with just one game against a winning team left on the schedule. And that game is against the Vikings back home on Thanksgiving.
Stafford misfired on just two of his 14 passes in the first half, and completed 26 of his 33 attempts overall. He connected with Marvin Jones on two touchdowns, did not throw a pick and finished with a prodigious passer rating of 132.4.
He became the first Lions QB since Bill Munson to win twice at Lambeau Field (1968 and 1970).
The Lions caught a break in facing Brett Hundley at quarterback, but they've lost games like this before. See: Flynn, Matt. And Stafford made sure that kind of meltdown wasn't even a possibility in this one. He marched Detroit nine plays on the offense's first series, connected with Jones streaking down the right sideline for a 25-yard touchdown, and never looked back. He picked apart an overmatched Green Bay defense, and Hundley couldn't keep up. It was a masterful performance from Stafford, who is suddenly 2-1 in his last three games in Green Bay, and seems to be shaking off whatever ailed him throughout much of the first half of the season.
Golden Tate is the Lions' best receiver, but Marvin Jones is their best receiver in the end zone. He had a team-high three touchdowns heading into the game, then added two more against Green Bay, one that got Detroit on the board in the first quarter (25 yards) and then another that stretched their lead to a commanding 27-10 in the fourth. Jones finished with seven catches overall for 107 yards. He's now topped 95 yards three straight games for the first time since joining the Lions last year -- and, most importantly, he's developing into a reliable scoring option for a team that has been unreliable at scoring.
The Lions opened the game with a touchdown, then went missed field goal/touchdown/field goal/fumble/field goal/touchdown/field goal. Notice what's missing there? For the first time since November 1971, they did not punt. They weren't perfect against Green Bay, but they were dominant from start to finish, an impressive effort in place that had given them nightmares over the years.
Ameer Abdullah's ball security problems are back. He was benched as a rookie because of fumble problems, and he put two more on the ground against Green Bay, losing one. And it earned him a spot on the bench in the fourth quarter. That spoiled what had otherwise been a promising start to the night for him. That includes replacing Dwayne Washington as the goal-line back, and plunging into the end zone for a 4-yard touchdown that gave Detroit a 14-0 lead in the second quarter.
Theo Riddick replaced Abdullah in the fourth, and made the most of his expanded role. On the series after Abdullah's benching, he leaked out of the backfield on an all-out blitz, caught a quick pass from Stafford and I'll have to check the tape because he might still be running. He went 63 yards in all, a career high, and Stafford turned it into a touchdown pass a few plays later that gave Detroit a 27-10 lead.
The Lions finally ran for a touchdown at the goal line -- no, really, they did -- but their struggles returned in the fourth quarter. Needing just 1 yard for a touchdown, Abdullah fumbled on first down, Riddick was stuffed on second down and then Stafford was turned away on a sneak on third down. The Lions still kicked a field goal that made it a three-score game, but it remains discouraging they struggle so much to pick up that final yard. Is there a worse goal-line offense in the NFL?
There were a lot of big moments in the win, although let's not forget Glover Quin's fourth-down tackle for loss in the third quarter. Detroit was leading 17-3 at the time, and Green Bay was desperate to make something happen. But Quin sniffed out the run and launched into the backfield like a missile for a 3-yard loss. Let's just put the guy in the Pro Bowl already and call it a day, shall we?
Maybe Quin can bum a ride to the Pro Bowl with Darius Slay, because he's going making it at this rate, too. Just consider what Slay did late in the third quarter. Green Bay had some life after an Abdullah fumble late in the quarter, and Hundley went for the throat. But Slay was all over Jordy Nelson for the pass breakup -- Nelson was so tightly covered, the crowd wanted a flag -- and then broke up another pass for Nelson on third down. Just like that, whatever momentum the Packers might have built was wiped out.
With Aaron Rodgers out, the Packers were leaning heavily on rookie running back Aaron Jones. He rattled off 100 yards two of the last three weeks, too, to help keep that offense afloat. Then the Lions got their hands on him, and didn't let go. Jones finished with just 12 yards on five carries and was a nonfactor in the loss.
Eric Ebron wasn't dealt at the trade deadline, but his role appeared diminished to open the game. He did not start a game he appeared in for the first time since 2015, and blew an early block when he did hit the field. He was lit up on a deep pass over the middle too. But he rebounded nicely, contributing three catches (on four targets) for 35 yards and played a key role in the Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots celebration after the first Jones touchdown. That alone was almost worth not dealing Ebron. Almost.
With a first-quarter PAT from Matt Prater, long snapper Don Muhlbach had a hand in the 1,400th point of his career. That has to be some kind of record, although nobody keeps long snapper stats. Death, taxes, Don Freaking Muhlbach.
Game-time temperatures were announced at 35 degrees. So it was chilly, but not exactly frigid either. That was big for Detroit, which has struggled in cold weather in the Jim Caldwell era.
The Lions have won two road games on Monday Night Football in the same season for the first time since 1970. In fact, those games have accounted for half their wins this season.

Abdullah finished with 48 yards rushing on a career-high 21 carries, but was benched after he fumbled a goal-line carry on the first play of the fourth quarter, his second fumble of the day.
Before his fumbles Monday, Abdullah had gone 154 rushing attempts without a fumble, a streak that dates back to the 2015 season.
Most touchdown passes by a visiting player at Lambeau Field: Matthew Stafford, 15; Fran Tarkenton, 13.
As a whole, the Lions ran the ball 33 times for just 64 yards.
Matthew Stafford moved past Kurt Warner to No. 38 in all-time passing yardage on his throw to TJ Jones in the third quarter. Warner had 32,344 yards passing. Stafford has 32,347 yards at the 5:29 mark in the third quarter. He has now passed two Hall of Fame quarterbacks Monday night -- Sonny Jurgensen and Warner.
Per ESPN Stats & Info, Matthew Stafford's 11.7 yards per attempt against the blitz tonight are more than double his season average entering this game (5.8).

Lions don't punt in Monday's game vs. Packers. It was the first time that had happened for the Detroit Lions since Thanksgiving Day 1971 against Kansas City, a game Detroit won 32-21.
