Today, it’s about quick hits – bits of news that catch my radar during the week as well as connecting the dots re ongoing stories. Even the quirky.
So let’s get to it! Here are the most interesting topics that hit my radar over the past week………..

At 47-50 (.485), Detroit just posted its best first-half win percentage since 2016.
The team had 1,460 plate appearances by players aged 24-or-younger, which is the most in the first half of a season by any Major League team since Texas had 1,608 in 2018.

(42-50) Toledo lost 6-3 Sunday. Team isn’t very good.

==============
(49-36) [11-7] Erie won 6-1 Sunday

=====================
(41-45) West Michigan lost again. They are in. Big time funk.

=======================
(54-31) [12-9] Lakeland won 5-1 Sunday .

They didn't turn shit. They had a few good series and pulled out some lucky wins. Just the opposite of what happened in June when these late inning games went the other way. Another "article" where she slobbers all over Harris' dick. Her articles have more bias than the Detroit Rags that she complains about.

That said...those were 3 great series for the Tigers. I'm still not a believer. They will end the season more than 3 games under .500

Rob Manfred said it is possible that MLB would test the automated strike zone challenge system in spring training in 2025, which could lead to potential implementation in 2026. But it is not a guarantee they will move on that schedule, and he feels the spring test is important.

The Detroit Tigers just completed an exciting series against the 1st place LA Dodgers in which they took 2 out of 3 games. They were very close to sweeping the series.
Previously, they took 3 out of 4 games from the 1st place Cleveland Guardians. Like the series with the Dodgers, they were very close to sweeping the entire series.

Before the Cleveland series, they swept the Cincinnati Reds. In 8 out of those 10 games, Detroit scored 4 runs or more in each of them. Two of those games had double digit runs.
Less than 2 weeks ago, the Tigers were 9 games under .500. Today, they are 3 games under.

A number of their players like Riley Greene, Andy Ibanez, Colt Keith, Carson Kelly and Wenceel Perez have stepped up significantly. The team has gone from hitting .213 w/ a .617 OPS to a .274 BA and .847 OPS.
The Tigers have now had their best first half of the season since 2016.
So what do you think of their current performance?

Have the Tigers finally turned a corner in which they are starting to play better baseball more consistently?
Or is this recent 11-game surge towards .500 merely a temporary win streak? Will they revert to their old ways of struggling to win?

Have the Tigers turned a corner and now playing better baseball?

1. Yes, their performance is getting better and more consistent.

2. No, they will revert to struggling as they did earlier in the year.

I was in attendance for this game, it was a good game with a great finish. I ended up with the baseball that recorded the final strike out in the top of the 9th from Alex Faedo to Chris Taylor. It was a good day

Everything you need to know about the 2024 Trade Deadline.

Will we see a big surprise in the SP market?
With the demand for starting pitching greatly outweighing the supply, the stage could be set for a Trade Deadline stunner involving one of the best pitchers in baseball. The chances are still against Tigers ace Tarik Skubal being traded, but in this environment, it’s possible a desperate contender will put together a prospect package that entices Detroit to deal the left-hander, who is controllable through 2026.
