looking at it now, that is really bad scheduling. I know that I liked it at the time but we could really use a bye, our next bye comes after we play Michigan again. this is not good for a shorthanded team at all. our schedule is tough and some of it is bad luck, just like we had good luck with our football schedule. our bye came right after the Michigan game and before Nebraska, it allowed us to regain focus, rest, and then be prepared for a pivotal game in the title race. we're seeing the opposite here, a showcase in NYC is nice but it's the last thing we need right now.

I'm all for Izzo sitting all the starters and playing the backups, even walk ons. But I know it won't happen. How amazing and memorable would it be for those walk ons to play at MSG?

we could possibly win with our bench players, Georgetown isn't that good with Josh Smith suspended. I'd like to see Applings minutes limited and Trice get some more time, keep Harris around 28 minutes too.

this game will greatly hurt our chances of winning a big ten title.

It may be bad scheduling but it's another chance for me to see them live so I'm not complaining. Plus Georgetown stinks. the only way they have a shot is if they can slow it down and keep the score in the low 100s or lower

It kills me that we're playing this one, we really need a bye. could you imagine no game between now and next wednesday? just what the doctor ordered.

this game will bite us later

Awful offense, just jacking 3s and missing. Need appling and harris to drive

So much for working on zone offense this week

Lost and Appling played 30+. Even though this game doesn't mean much it still sucks losing.
So fucking tired of watching us struggle to rebound, we miss the points from Payne and Dawson but we miss the rebounding and size 100 times more. Gauna, Byrd are atrocious. Schilling can't catch a pass to save his life, but he gets a pass because he's a freshman.
Dawson and Payne, please hurry back..

Pathetic effort. Team has not played well the last 4 games.

When you shoot as poorly as we did from deep, and most of the misses were wide fucking open, you wonder about the teams legs. Before hitting our last 3 threes, we were 6-26.

AS poor as tghe effort looked, I hope Izzo gives this team tomorrow off and has a light day for them on Monday. Need to get the legs back.

Sbee, not to bust your chops but when you shoot 56% from the free throw line with all three starting guards shooting sub .500 that is not a mix problem. Part of the reason we only shot 16 FTs was because we missed the front end of a lot of 1-and-1s but they gotta draw more fouls - esp when they're shooting 31% from 3. Ugly, ugly game.

Lots of things were wrong, you can get away with bad shooting when you rebound well, we didn't do either. This sucks to lose and missing out on a much needed bye sucks more.

The silver lining is that i see these problems going away once we get ap and dawson. The ft shooting wouldn't have been an issue if we had post scoring and rebounding.

One play that killed us was denzel missing a box out with about 1:30 left. We were down 2 and they just missed, dv just stood there and watched like he did with oladipo at breslin last year.

Like I said, we miss the rebounding more than anything. Valentine had the most rebounds today followed by Appling...yes Appling.

Yeah, to be clear I'm not saying we lost because of FTs, just that it's a recurring problem and more than just a mix issue. If this keeps up it could cost us a game at the wrong time.

Agree, I think that if we have the rebounding and interior play back that other stuff doesn't matter. Lets hope so looks good in practice this week and gets minutes on Thursday, we need him back, psu insnt awful and we need him against Wisconsin

Well, tied for 1st place. Payne is supposed to play this Thursday. Interested to see how we work him back into the offense.

Lets just hope he does make it back with no setbacks. Him and dawson being out cost us two wins but we still could win the conference and get a 1 seed. Were almost halfway through the dawson timeframe too

Whether #1 seed is attainable may depend largely on how the committee treats Wichita State and San Diego St as they aren't likely to lose much if at all. It will also be interesting to see what's going to happen with Arizona and their injury. One weakness they had was a lack of depth only going about 7 deep. Syracuse will be a lock (still waiting for them to actually play a tough road game) and probably Florida too.
