Grady Sizemore worth going after?

No...the guy gets hurt sneezing. I want someone who will be around all year.

No, no, no....on 2nd thought, if it helps to non-tender DY....then yes.

Given the 2, I would take the injury-risk over paying $7 Mil+ to DY.

If Grady could only come close to his ave #'s, he would be a fan favorite in Det like you wouldn't believe!

Before rebbiv's 3 year away splits, I thought Sizemore would be worth it, but, given the play an 'if healthy' Sizemore would bring, maybe he is worth it.
I would want Sizemore, DeJesus, or Willingham, maybe in that order, over Young.
Maybe pay a bit more for carlos beltran??
Man, I just want good hitters that can also field better than the overall hacks we've had in the corner spots.

DeJesus, now you're talking! Altho if you subtract his numbers against Det, he might be very ave.

D. Young -7.45 (-11.0 career)
C. Beltran -8.35 (2.9 career)
G. Sizemore -9.85 (4.3 career)

To DeJesus' credit, he gets on base and plays great defense. He just doesn't supply the power you would hope from a corner OFer. Still, I would rather have him in a heartbeat over DY.

Rebb, I think the main reason posters here like DeJesus is bc he has always been a Tiger killer.

1 year deal only!!! Maybe he will come to Detroit with his old buddies Victor Martinez and Johnny Peralta

I would like to see a 1 year deal. That is all he will get until he proves he is healthy. Why not take a shot.

Is there anyone in the farm system that might fill the void in LF? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Hello?

*crickets*

Jamie Johnson (24) is a lefthanded hitting CFer, who draws walks and had a .376 OBP in AA last year. He is probably a year away, but tracks to CF/leadoff type and is being blocked by Jackson.

Chad Wright (22) is another lefthanded hitting CFer, who draws walks and had a .378 OBP in A-ball last year. He is a few more years away, and again, he is either blocked by Jackson, and/or Johnson.

DET does not have any pure corner OFer with any potential. TOL (AAA) and Erie (AA) did not have any good young hitting prospects last year, sans Johnson.

Castellanos (19) spent last year at West Michigan (A) and is still a couple of years away. Currently playing 3B, it isn't unheard of changing someone like this to corner OF.

But to answer your question, no, DET has not hitting prospects that could really be expected to be advanced to the MLB level for opening day. The only options is to trade (basically young pitching) for hitters and/or sign someone via FA.

lol..it's a way of making fun of myself. I'm an avid Tony Romo defender and get razzed pretty good for it. (I think more for being a Cowboy fan but that just makes me an easier target.)
