I wonder if he could be had for a minor league contract for one year and let him try to outplay andy dirks for lf in ST. Better him than bonderman.

id rather not, I don't think he's worth it at this point. he'd probably injure himself just signing the contract.

I am okay with a minor league contract and a spring training invite. If he can play half the season, he would be worth it.

Sizemore Away 2009-2011

.227 BAVG .296 OBP .410 SLG .706 OPS 72.22 RC/650

2009-2011 UZR/150 -9.80 (that is D. Young/Boesch bad)

Horrible idea. Sat out all of 2012 with back surgery and bad knees. Hasn't played more than 106 games since 2008. Elbow, knee and back surgeries over the last few years. When he has played, he has been a shadow of himself.

Damn, it's hard enough for a hitter to get over ONE of those problems, let alone all three.

Even still, what harm would giving him a minor league deal be? If he can pass a physical that is.

Well, he would only take a minor league deal if it included a major league contract clause. So, he plays well enough (or the others don't play well enough) and he is picked up on the 40-man roster. Who gets cut?

Now, 10 days into the season, his back goes out. And whether it is just short stints to the 15-day DL or a 60-day DL, he took a roster spot from someone.

Are you willing to gamble a young player for Sizemore? A player, because or injuries, is a shadow of himself, hoping he catches lightning?

I am not.

Who was the last ex-major-leaguer-who-was-good-at-one-time that the Tigers signed to a minor-league deal and who then made a positive difference over a season?

Bad sentence to match the bad idea.
