Hardy suspended 10 games

Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy has been suspended 10 games without pay for "conduct detrimental to the league," the NFL said in a statement.

Hardy's suspension is the result of a two-month NFL investigation following the dismissal of his domestic violence case.

The case ended with all charges being dropped after the victim, Hardy's former girlfriend, chose not to cooperate with North Carolina authorities

So the whole 6 game thing is 10 games now. Not defending the guy but much like Goddell's whole tenure it seems a bit arbitrary.

He missed 15 games last year. And now another 10. Oh well, Dallas deserves this.

In Goodel's announcement on the new punishment platform, he specifies that use of a weapon, or violence against a child or in witness of a child is a season long suspension.

The arrest report stated that he was also investigated for abuse of a child, so it's pretty safe to assume if he didn't beat the kid, the kid was present as a witness.

Hardy should have been suspended for the season, but I am sure they are taking into account his time on the exempt list last season.

What's odd is that the NFL only suspended Peterson until April 15th, when his clearly was against a child and arguably with a weapon as well. Then he got the suspension overturned in court, and the NFL reinstated him anyway... which seems like a "for demonstration purposes only" move.

Just odd. They hit Hardy with the ban hammer, and Peterson gets off uber light.

Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy had his suspension reduced from 10 games to four on appeal by arbitrator Harold Henderson, the NFL announced Friday.

The NFL initially suspended Hardy in April for what it deemed to be multiple violations of the league's personal conduct policy during an incident with a former girlfriend in the spring of 2014. The charges against Hardy were eventually dismissed after Nicole Holder refused to cooperate with the Mecklenburg (North Carolina) County district attorney's office.

Why do they always get reduced. What's the point in making the original suspension in the first place?
