Harris torn on decision

I imagine he will become less torn the farther away he gets from this loss over the next few days.

it looks like he's at least considering coming back, maybe it's not 90% like we thought. I do think he should go if he's going to be drafted as highly as projected

CBS is reporting he's going barring a "surprising change of plans".

I never expected him to come back after last year, so this season was a bonus in my eyes. Dawson is the one that I'm curious of his decision. Izzo pretty much came out and said that he's probably gonna advise him to stay one more year. The only guy that I remember him saying that about that left anyways was Taylor....

Izzo said that it will be a few weeks, my guess is that Harris does all of the evaluations and then makes a decision to go. Izzo said he's really tight with Denzel and loves his teammates, that's what would make this hard for him. He also said that his parents aren't in the financial situation some others are so he doesn't need to go.

I think in the end, he goes but it will be hard for him. In a way i think that's the best result, it should be hard to leave your coach and team, at least if you're running the right kind of program. the two guys from UCLA announced hours after they lost to Florida.

on dawson, he said that he is going to do some checking on him, that's what Dawson wants from him

I think Gary and Nik both should go. Not that I want them to I just dont think they can improve their draft position with another year. They can work on their games and become better players for a longer careers but as far as the draft they wont do much better than where they are slotted now.

Mitch and Dawson would be complete morons if they leave. Sorry if you dont like the fact that I threw in a few U of M players but both teams kind of at the mercy of their players at the moment.

Right, business-wise the smart decision is for Gary and Nik to leave. If they stay it would be because they enjoy college and are in a position financially where they don't have to leave and/or they want to pursue some more Final Fours/Championships in college (which are far from guaranteed in the crapshoot that the NCAA Tournament often is).

If I was in that position still just getting over the sting of an Elite 8 loss I'd probably be thinking I'd want to come back and finish the job. But 2-3 weeks from now I'd be thinking "damn, in 4 months I could be a millionaire".

Harris should leave. The only reason he might not is that he's extremely young for a college sophomore, he won't turn 20 until the Fall.

Harris should go.

Dawson should stay. He has a kid so I know the draw of NBA/overseas money will be tough to turn down.....but I think Dawson will find his NBA stock down. He's a tweener with ZERO offensive game. To small to guard NBA PF's......not quick enough to guard SF's or SG's.

Also, his best career move would be the NFL. Just my opinion on that.....but he would be a fantastic TE prospect.

this is way premature, Izzo said that he talked to Harris's dad today and that he was going to talk to nba scouts and agents at the final four. He said that Harris loves his teammates and he's torn, he also said that his parents were in a different situation than some others and he didn't have to go.

I think the end game is Harris in the NBA because his stock would be more likely to go down than up. Izzo said that he'd tell him to go as long as he was emotionally ready, not sure harris is at 19, younger than a lot of freshmen.

I am sure he goes, but I think it drags for a few weeks

I wish they would all stay... College hoops would be better.... But I understand a million dollar contract would really be something to think about..

The 3yr baseball rule would change things a lot, all for the better. The top players wouldn't all be able to go to uk or ku since they wouldn't have the scholarships. Also, even fewer to uk since you'd have to go to school for more than one semester

I never thought about this until now, but that would be brilliant! He has very soft hands and physically looks more like a football player than a basketball player. A little short for TE though.

I would say Dawson is plenty quick enough to guard NBA small forwards, though at 6-6 he would often be at a height disadvantage there. Shooting guards, I"m not sure.

He needs to develop some sort of offensive game to be anything other than an end of the bench NBA player. Not necessarily deep shooting but some of the things we started to see late in the year. Mid-range jumpers, taking the ball to the basket off the dribble, an actual post game. Things like that.

quotes

from Izzo

"I think he's torn," Izzo said, "because of his relationship with the team - with Denzel (Valentine) in particular. Here's a kid who is a good student, likes college. All the reasons that guys leave is everybody hates school and everybody needs the money or this or that. He doesn't have those factors in his life. In fact, he has just about the opposite.

6'6" is a little short for a TE? that's the first i've ever heard that. most TE's are 6'4"-6'6"

Antonio Gates
Date of birth: June 18, 1980 (age 33)
Height: 6' 4" (1.93 m)
Weight: 255 lb (116 kg)

Jimmy Graham
Date of birth: November 24, 1986 (age 27)
Height: 6' 7" (2.01 m)
Weight: 265 lb (120 kg)

Rob Gronkowski
Date of birth: May 14, 1989 (age 24)
Height: 6 ft 6 in (1.98 m)
Weight: 265 lb (120 kg)

Tony Gonzalez
Date of birth: February 27, 1976 (age 38)
Height: 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m)
Weight: 247 lb (112 kg)

Brandon Dawson
Date of birth: February 1, 1993 (age 21)
Height: 6 ft 6 in
Weight: 225 lb

he would have to put on weight, but that's easy for a football player to do, but he's the same size as some of the best TE's in football, and probably more athletic as well.

He's at the MSU baseball game with Ellis, Valentine, and Schilling

yeah i thought that was an odd comment too, Dawson is plenty tall enough, height wise he fits the position perfectly.
