I know everyone is happy about the record the Tigers are having this Spring. And the numbers that Raburn is putting up are good to great, some would like him to save a little for the season. Cabrera has been good all most all Spring, and Fielder has come on lately. Dirks and Berry have Been putting up some good numbers as well.
But there are a handful that been flying under the radar B/C of the ones already mention.
Peralta,Santiago,,Santos and Strieby are all above .300
Young is now leading the team in average, Worth and Kelly have been moving up as well, Patterson, has come down some but his glove has been as good as any.
Of course the Tigers have had two big outputs in the last two games. The cards put out some pretty good pitching Saturday, so IMO the game was a small show of what the Tigers could do in the season.
As a team the Tigers are batting .287 156 for 542 that includes 8 players going 0 for 30, so that would bring it up to .304. One would have to say Tigers are a hitting them. 28 doubles, 6 triples, 22 Homeruns.
So I guess a question could be Cabrera hitting 3rd and Fielder hitting 4th, is that going to be that much difference over last season, hum,

I love Cabrera moving to 3rd in the lineup. That should give him quite a few more at bats over the course of the year, which can't be a bad thing.

He's a huge asset in fantasy baseball as a 3B.

Do they just go on last years when drafting? And he won't be eligible April 5, opening day? Why 20 games. Ironically with my love of baseball. This is my first year of fantasy baseball in some time.

I gotta believe there is a minimum number of games that a player must play at a position to be eligible to play that position on your fantasy team.

I am pretty sure you won't be allowed to put Cabrera at 3rd until sometime after he plays some games there. It can be as low as 1 game, and also may be different during a fantasy draft because it depends on the games played at a position last year for the draft vs during the year.

Defaults from the leagues I played in were:
. . . during the draft, the player had to play 20 games last year at a position to qualify for that position during the draft.
. . . during the year, the player had to play 5 games at a position to qualify for that position.

Have to check our league's settings.

. . . but it certainly does affect the draft as ESPN, Yahoo etc. won't let you assign a player to a position spot unless they qualify.

Okay, thanks. Still worth being a number 1 pick IMO. As a 1B he was a high draft pick I suspect but a 3B, not too many good ones running around. I might draft Inge for s&g.

Found the rules for ESPN:

POSITION ELIGIBILITY
Before each season begins ESPN will determine the primary position of every MLB player available in the game. The criteria will primarily be the past year's playing time. Additional positional eligibility will be determined as outlined below in the Batter and Pitcher sections. This includes rookies as well as veterans. The listed primary positions are fixed and will not change for the duration of the season.
NOTE: In custom leagues the League Manager CANNOT change the listed position of any player in the game.

Positional Eligibility for Batters
Additional positional eligibility for Batters occurs when one of the following conditions is met:

Games played at a position during last season: 20
Games played at a position during current season: 10 (The eligibility will take place on the 11th day, even if no game is played that day)
NOTE: For a batter to be considered eligible for Outfield (OF) he must play at least ten games in any outfield position (RF, CF, LF or any combo of the three, totaling 10). For example, at one point in 2009, Gary Sheffield (DH) played four games in Left Field and six games in Right Field. The total was ten, so he would be OF eligible.
Positional Eligibility for Pitchers
Additional positional eligibility for Pitchers occurs when one of the following conditions is met:


Pitching appearances last season: 5 starts / 8 relief
Pitching appearances during current season: 3 starts / 5 relief

Cabrera was eligible as a 3B in Yahoo up 'till 2011, same as Vmart was eligible as a C/1B.

My guess is because of the hype and the insistence by the Tigers that Cabrera will play 3B, he'll be listed as 1B/3B for most Fantasy leagues.


To the OP, it's nice what Raburn and Santiago and Young and others have done so far, but remember over half their AB's have been against guys who wont pitch above AA all year.

Certainly easy to get excited, but probably wont be the same come April, though maybe it's help their confidence at the plate.
