Hockey Update 3/9/2019 BTT

Out shooting Minnesota 49-24 tonight and the game is tied 3-3. Wolverines had a 3-2 lead going into the third but crappy defense let up a goal and the lead. They were down 2-0 in the first. I guess the comeback is worth noting.

Goal review. Can’t see the puck No way Michigan goal stands. Frustrating team that just can’t finish. Third pole Michigan has hit... now we are losing 4-3. Out shot this team by 20+ and going to lose... another terrible loss by Mel’s team .. they get 19 days before the next game.. team better go on a run or there will be no ncaa for this team.
Team is under .500 overall and in the Big Ten.

Hughes brothers will be playing at the world juniors from December 26th to January 5th and will miss the Great Lakes invitational next weekend, and maybe the January 5th game verses Norte Dame.

Michigan has 17 games left in the regular season and maybe a few hopefully in the Btt.. Probably going to need to 11 to 12+ to make the ncaa. This is a strange team. Having issues at home (4-3-4). They are as expected worse on the road (2-4). When the offense shows up they lose in high scoring fashion. When the defense and goalie play great the offense disappears. Still plenty of games left. Hopefully a turnaround is coming.

Great Lakes invatiomal next weekend December 30th and 31st. Winners play December 31st.

Lost to Michigan tech in a shootout. Same old crap. When defense shows up offense disappears.. Game was tied 2-2. Michigan plays loser of next game. This team is just so inconsistent. LSSU beat MSU in ot 4-3. Michigan vs MSU tomorrow to see who does not go 0-2 for the weekend.

Michigan and MSU tie 2-2 in consolation game at GLI. Overall record is 6-7-6. Maybe 2019 this team will find some wins.
 
Since beat Psu 6-4 on November 5th at home these are the scores of the games Michigan has played in. So many games that points were lost.

First ot is played 5 on 5.
If a team wins in 5 on 5 ot they win all three points.
If the team wins in the 3 on 3 ot winning team gets 2 losing team gets 1 point.
Shootout same thing happens as in 3 on 3. winner gets 2 loser 1 point.

Pairwise rankings . Michigan at 7-7-6 is sitting at #24. They play a poor Merrimack team Tuesday and then have 2 games at osu. 1 at home to Psu. 1 in New York to Psu. Then 2 at Minnesota. Hopefully if they play like they did Sunday verses ND they can start getting a lot of points ! Counting yesterday’s game I think the second half of the season has 15 games left. Michigan probably will need at least 10 wins and then a few in btt to make ncaa. I don’t think a lot of teams are getting to 20 wins this season. I think anything above 18 should do it.

This team just can’t get it together. They play great and beat a good ND team in a out door game and come home and lose to a terrible now 6-16-1 Merrimack team. With a chance to get over .500 they just show up and think it will be easy. . They are 3-4-4 in conference and now a embarrassing 7-8-6 overall. Such a frustrating group this year.

Hughes was back after worlds .

The roller coaster win one loss one season continues for Michigan. After that bad home loss last Tuesday to Merrimack Michigan bounces back in Columbus with a solid defensive effort in a 2-1 win in the opening game of the weekend set. Team improves to 8-8-6, and 4-4-4 in conference. They were 28 in the Pariwise compsite rankings and I will update it later after all the games get in. Team needed at least a split in Columbus. Two in a road would be fantastic. So far Michigan moved up to #23.

This team just cant win two games in a row. 5 minutes left. Need a miracle down 5-2. Game ends. Another split weekend. Lost 5-2.

Michigan opens weekend series at Minnesota with a 4-2 win. Team is now 10-10-6 , and
6-6-4 in conference. Last time team won back to back games was November 9th, 2018.
Teams play again tomorrow in Minneapolis.
