Hoops vs Oregon

When you need a bucket I high hook shot off the back board is not the shoot you need to take. Was that the play they drew up in the huddle?

Great comeback but getting down and not showing up in the first half cost Michigan and now that is 3 losses in 4 games since jumping up to #4.. Michigan is missing a guy who can’t be stopped. We just don’t have that guy.. so close to a great comeback win.

Where was the coaching staff when Prichard was tearing Simpson up? He needed help. Yaklich wouldn’t have let that roll continue. He would tried something different. Maybe they did and I missed it but it looked like he keep driving and getting easy buckets with no help to protect the rim behind Simpson?

Johns looks like he's finally coming into his own. I'm hoping his play can keep Castleton to very limited minutes the rest of the season. Castleton just isn't ready.

Teske has to be way better than he was today. He offered nothing and you can't have that from a starting Senior.

This one's tough. Really wanted this game. 3 top ten wins would be mighty nice.

First half killed them. Missing dunks and good shots just a terrible showing. Should not have required that big an effort to comeback and it cost them. That and nobody stopping #3.

Oh well.

Seemed like #3 wasn't even looking to pass. Just driving. Had to make him give up the ball. Yep, one guy beat them in the end. And a poor shot selection at the end. Disappointing loss at home.

Simpson 11 assist and 4 turnovers with 8 points Michigan only had 11 turnovers as a team.
He was 3-11 shooting and Wagner and Livers were the hot hands in the second half and he never looked for them. I guess he only missed by a smidge. Frustrating because the ball takes so long for those hooks to hit the board.

Yup. Not very good plays designed up there at the end.. No adjustments made to help Simpson.

At first i thought Simpson was taking too long , but he got to the rim and got his shot up and we got a quality put back attempt . Can't be mad at that , ball just didn't go in . Painful loss no doubt after that comeback tho but does anything ever go our way ??

He really didn?t get to the rim though NS? It was a 2-5 foot hook shot high off the backboard From a 3-10 shooter. It wasn?t a layup at all. I guess that hook made it came off the rim hard with a shot at a put back but Teske wasn?t even in there on that play. It was Johns, Wagner, livers, David d. and Simpson. No look at kicking. (Probably no time ). Just not sure about that play and shot, and Howard let 1 guy beat us the last 8 minutes of playing time. Make some adjustments to try and get the ball out of his hands.

Frustrating as Wagner hit the first 3 in ot like the game and still lost. Sucks that is time has huge dry spells on offense.

What I think I saw was - I think in a post earlier you wondered if a play was drawn up at the time out, and I think not - I think Coach just said ?go out and do whatever the fuck; that?s what we did when I played here, and it generally worked out OK.?

Okay, ya got me -NOT.

The play was drawn up exactly - have the ball in the general?s hands as the clock was running out, to drive and dish or drive and score.

The layup lane was taken alway; or in
Simpson?s split second motor/memory it was, and his reaction was taking the hook shot himself.

The play drawn up probably included the collapse to the rim behind him in case whatever shot he took didn?t fall in so it could be tipped.

I would?ve drawn it up exactly that way and I was never even an NBA championship.

I think this is pretty accurate , i think they got exactly what they wanted out of the play . A good look and a chance for a put back . Remember Simpson's signature shot is that exact hook shot ...I do agree with Bob tho is that Teske should have been on the floor . Tough loss no matter how we look at it

Teske needs to stop camping out at the 3 point line and doing that stupid arrow and bow thing when he goes 1 for 8 from 3 point range. Not a sharpshooter!!

I don?t mind having it in Simpson?s hands at all. I just question the decision for the hook shot layup. He won?t get a call with that shot at all. Just looks at what Prichard was doing at the rim for Oregon?

Simpson did get a good bounce off rim with the high glass-er hook shot. I would had him Wagner, livers, Teske, and Johns on the court. That way he could dished to Teske or Johns maybe for a layup or dunk. Hopefully They study the last 10 minutes of this game and get better on offense and defense. They have 2 cupcakes coming up. Hopefully to work on stuff.

I am imagining him as a senior ! He will be so strong.

I guess Teske had the flu yesterday.

I still don't want to see another 3 point shot from him again...

I agree, especially with his air balls added in. At least one a game.

I also think Howard needs to get Franz going by sitting him and making him the 6th man for a couple games. Take a little pressure off the kid. It helped Duncan Robinson when he was rock bottom. It helps a lot of guys when they are in a funk.

Get Franz going? His team leading 21 points against Oregon wasn't getting going enough for you?
