I miss the old bowl system

There are parts of the BCS that I like, but this is one that I absolutely can not stand anymore.

Today is January 7th. The sugar, Orange, Rose, and Fiesta bowls have all been played. Those teams are supposed to be the best of the best teams in the NCAA. Yet somehow, Northern Illinois, Arkansas State, SMU and Pittsburgh are all playing in minor bowl games today and tomorrow. WTF? Top teams should be the only ones playing after New Year's Day.

exactly. while the games may actually be good matchups, none of those 4 deserve to have games after new year's eve.

Yeah I dont get the straggler bowls as I call them. 2 worthless teams playing when no one even cares.

I think the NCAA bundles some of the bad bowls with the good ones. So if you want to broadcast the Rose Bowl ok but you also have to pay for some of the other shit ones.

They've always played January 2 when New Year's Day is on a Sunday.

yes i know jan 2 is used when jan 1 is sunday - i hosted enough rose bowl tailgates to have done that

i said after jan 2 -but goofed up typing (iphone)


i think games after the holiday break is overall silly -
michigan students had to write profs about missing classes going to sugar bowl

January 1st should be the last bowl day IMO. All BCS bowls played with the championship kicking off at 8 or 830. Playing on the 1st means nothing, in reality.
