If the dems win the House

Ol? mittens Romney is back wins Utah senate

If the Dems would have at least gained a seat, he could've been an interesting swing vote occasionally based on his rocky relationship with Trump.

Dems odds tracking back up for the House. Not sure why FOX thinks they know better than everyone else. There are statements out there about private polls being different than public polls.

Their website says 95% for Dems. That seems to say they agree with the rest. Next 2 years are going to be awesome, not.

As for Arizona senator, I hate both. Same with the Governor.

lol...You knew it would happen at least once. Hours ago, Will Hurd was declared the winner and gave a victory speech. And then...

I watched NBC starting around 9:30 and never saw them below 85% for the Dems. Not sure what happened prior that point though. It was pretty amusing to see how giddy Chuck Todd and the others were for the Dems taking the house and to watch them fawn over cadidates like Beto, Adams and the crook in Florida. Hard to believe anyone thinks there isn't a leftist bias in the media.

Who is Adams? Yeah they fawn over some candidates but at least they weren't on stage during a campaign rally like those non-bias right wing media.

Chris Collins (R) NY who was the first Republican representative to endorse Drumpf as POTUS, and now is under indictment on federal corruption charges for insider trading, holds a narrow ~3K vote lead over Democratic challenger Nate McMurray who is demanding a recount. Nice going 27th district!!

Michigan approved both an anti-gerrymandering amendment, and recreational use of pot, the latter of which s/b interesting how it will be implemented, since the DEA is forcing MI physicians who prescribe Schedule II painkillers to their patients, to make them submit urine samples to check for non-prescribed and illegal drugs each time that they visit. Doesn't affect me, since I ceased using or smoking MJ many years ago, but most, if not all physicians who are not medical MJ prescribers, won't allow their patients to see them and a physician who does prescribe MJ as well.

After two years, a semblance of checks and balances has been restored to the federal government, with Democrats regaining majority control over the HoR. I didn't think that they had any chance of doing likewise in the Senate, with so few Republican-held seats up for grabs, and they actually lost a few of their own, albeit by very small margins. But '20 is a different story, with more Republican seats to challenge for, plus of course the EO, but they will need a much better candidate to compete vs the perpetually campaigning Drumpf...or Pence, if Dear Leader does a face-first coronary into a taco-bowl beforehand. There is a very slim chance that he could be impeached, but the evidence provided by Mueller and/or HoR committee investigative findings would need to be damning.

with control of the senate, the GOP, via their tool in the White House can keep packing the Federal courts with "ideologues" AKA corrupted individuals who know they're only there to rule how the GOP and its financial backers want them to.

so the checks and balances is not quite there, yet.

I guess you did say "semblance" though. i missed that part the first time

Hot take considering Republicans elected two candidates under indictment and with Hannety jumping on stage with Trump. Seems like a lot of the partisan grievances I read this morning could be applied to the other side in a similar fashion.

I can't find a better chart, but halfway down this:
https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/election-night-2018/fte-rr.html
There's a small chart of the 538 odds over the course of the evening. There was a period where they thought the Dems chances were closer to even. By started moving back around 10 pm which is around the point where Fox News called it.

The sad part are the courts. Some awful judges are being out in place all across America. Just start at the supreme court and go down the list sadly . The corrupt GOP won't stop until corporations have all the power over regulations and regular folks. Shame how they hate this planet and people so much that live on it.

Most Republicans profess to be xtian, but they actually worship Mammon, and Drumpf is Mammon's Messiah. They also supported the Citizens United SCOTUS ruling, which gives corporations the same political rights as if they were individual private citizens, but w/o that nasty criminal prosecution part if caught doing anything illegal.

I'm a fan of little jokes.

Here's a good one.

I recently asked my friend's little girl what she wanted to be when she grew up. She said she wanted to be president of the United States.

Both of her parents, liberal Dems , were standing there, so I asked her what she would do first. She replied: "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people." Her parents beamed.

“Wow, what a worthy goal,” I told her, “but you don't have to wait until you're president to do that. You can come over to my house, mow the lawn, pull weeds and sweep my driveway, and I will pay you $50. Then I will take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward a new house and food.”

She thought it over for a few seconds, then asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over to your house and do the work and you can just pay him the $50?"

I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

Cool story, bro.

Too bad that 50 bucks would only pay for an overnight stay in a decent motel room.

Minimum wage in the 50s paid for a single person renting a flat with utilities and food for a month.
