If you need a good laugh read this

Pretty accurate after the first 2 weeks, completely wrong by the end of the year.

Lions being called a playoff team...lol...that is pretty funny.

It was wrong from the initial release. M football was in deep trouble from the opening kickoff of the opening game. Simonson somehow makes a living by being utterly ignorant of the topics he comments on and covers. Baffling that he still has a job, but he works in Grand Rapids, so that must be the reason why.

I don't know... if you go back to August 2013, I don't think it was written in stone that this had to be a 7-6 season. I think the coaches made a mess of the OL shuffling personnel around like they did. same with the DL.

having Hoke double as the DL coach, and Borges double as the QBC was a mistake too.

But anyways, this is an interesting point from the article:
Before you tell me MSU is 2-0, remember, Western Michigan just lost in Kalamazoo to Nicholls State and South Florida got beat at home by McNeese State.

If MSU had played more talented teams, the Spartans would be 0-2, even with that defense and both games at home.
I do wonder what would've happened if MSU had played better opponents and dropped one or both of those opening games. maybe they wouldn't have pulled things together. team chemistry could've been flushed down the toilet by that point.

you could probably get another pretty good laugh by comparing what some of posters on this board were saying about their coaches and QBs after week two, with what they were saying about them after the Rose Bowl win.

shocking that things can change so much after a couple weeks...

that works both ways, imagine if we settled on Cook early on and gave him all of the first string reps or if we didn't pull him for the last drive vs ND. we might be playing tonight at 8:30

there is a little difference between what a columnist writes and what fans say on a message board. we all have varying levels of interest in college sports and devote some spare time to the subject, it's a little different than someone who works in the industry. this is a diversion for us, a job for him. that being said, a lot of writers just spew bullshit to get attention, like Drew Sharp voting MSU #9 in the last poll.

I'm only focusing on the way that he was fluffing Michigan after beating CMU and ND. He was 180 degrees out of phase with reality, which seems to be his long suit.

A little further south, Michigan has game changers and All-Americans on offense, a Heisman Trophy candidate in quarterback Devin Gardner

Gallon is the only player with these credentials, and how could this idiot ignore the question marks we all were asking? (OL and Secondary). Placing Gardner in the Heisman conversation? Delusional. I was not aware of this column until today and I hope that his callers are blowing up his show with this.

Michigan did look good against ND, throws were good, protection was there, the defense was quick to the ball and it seemed like Michigan was winning the point of attack in that game. I reserve judgement until a little later though, usually MSU, ND, and UM all play each other early and it's hard to tell if any team is very good based on those games.

Michigan's recent seasons have caused me to pause before projecting very far. I dislike that it plays such middling programs because there is nothing to gain except becoming like them. I'd rather they go 1-2 against (example) ND, UCLA and Georgia than 3-0 against ND, CMU and Akron. (barely). Eventually, M would win those tougher OCC games.

If you're playing for a national title you need to keep that record clean. If you're playing for a big ten title, its better to risk losing but find out where you need to improve, the tom izzo system.

After the akron game I saI'd this year for Michigan would mirror rich rods 3rd year, pretty similar
