The possibility exists that the state of Missouri could have both the AL KC Royals and NL STL Cards playing each other in the WS. There has been an all Cali WS (Dodgers vs A's) Several all-city WS (Chicago Cubs vs White Sox) (NY Giants vs Yankees) (NY Mets vs Yankees) (Brooklyn Dodgers vs Yankees) (STL Cards vs Browns) The extinct AL Philadelphia Athletics never played the NL Pittsburgh Pirates, the extinct AL KC Athletics never played the NL STL Cards, the AL Cleveland Indians have never played the Cincinnati Reds, the former NL Houston Astros never played the AL Texas Rangers, the NL SF Giants and SD Padres have never played either the Oakland A's nor the California/Anaheim/LAA Angels in all-state or city matchup possibility in a World Series. The only other future intrastate WS matchup would be the NL Miami Marlins vs the AL Tampa Bay Rays.
Should the WC KC Royals, who haven't played in the postseason since their WS championship in '85 manage to accomplish what the '87, '06, '11, '12, '13 and '14 Tigers teams failed mostly miserably at, which was having more chances to win WS rings, that would just put more salt in Tigers fans' recent wounds. The Twins and Tribe fans as well...esp the latter who haven't won a WS since 1948...lololol!!
