Izzo refused to pay recruits

So why didn't Izzo go to someone and say this is what Dawkins is doing? I'm glad he didn't pay players but why just stay quiet about it?

I actually don't blame him; everyone knows the NCAA isn't going to police this at all, so he gets the reputation of a snitch for no benefit whatsoever, or even sense of justice.

if anything, they'd come after him for making them look bad... that's what happens to whistleblowers in America these days; when all our institutions are thoroughly corrupt, the only "crime" is fighting corruption.

In Bo Schembechler's book (Bo's Lasting Lessons) I remember reading a passage about some famous RB's HS coach demanding $5,000 from him to play at Michigan, and Bo said he sent all the information along to the NCAA. the NCAA never did anything about it, and never even investigated the school that eventually signed the kid (some Southern football mill).

This was back in the 80's.

If NCAA enforcement was a joke even back then - and that was before SMU got the death penalty - I don't know what words even describe how useless they are now. I guess now, they're just openly evil.

Seems a bit nit picky but there's always those petty rivals who want to find the negative in everything others do. This is just the accused giving his account of his interactions with Izzo, he has no knowledge of what Izzo did or who he told about them - just that Izzo refused to pay.

Who knows what Izzo did or who he told? He's responsible for complying with NCAA rules and regulations, not enforcing them for the NCAA. If I were in his shoes, I'd probably inform MSU compliance about the matter and hand over any relevant emails or text messages and let them handle it. But even if Izzo didn't do that, I think it says enough about him that he told the guy to his face they weren't going to pay for a recruit.
