Jahvid Best - RB - Lions
After moving him to reserve/PUP Monday, Lions coach Jim Schwartz indicated that medical experts wanted Jahvid Best at least a year removed from his last concussion before returning to the football field.

Best's last concussion occurred on October 16 last year. This year, he'll be ineligible to play before October 22. "That?s within the range of where the doctors wanted him to be, so it made it an easy decision ? or an easier decision," Schwartz explained. "... He?s looked extremely good in all his physical stuff and as soon as we can get him back and get clearance, we will."

I have no problem with them doing this, but if that was the plan to begin with, why wait until now to say it? They could have avoided all of the questions and non-sense that went into this.

Unless of course this is them trying to save face? All ive ever heard about concussions is that you cannot give them a timetable to come back from..that its not like a broken bone or something. So why all of a sudden is the 1 year mark ok? Sounds fishy to me, but I hope it works out for Jahvid (most importantly) and the Lions.

done....cya , should of maybe took the concussion history a little more serious on draft day.

Very true, much like a team drafting a guy with questionable character, you're taking a risk that a guy with injury concerns (especially with his head) won't make it. Guys like Dez Bryant and Javid Best will both be failures in the draft if they can't make it with their teams because both teams knew the risk, both teams watched other teams pass on them and both teams decided it was worth the risk or it was going to work. No doubt both guys are talented enough.

Congratz jahvid.....u get to wait until oct before your brain turns into mush.

Funny part is he'll sue the nfl in 5 years and make bank.

He is done and if he tries to play someone should stop him. Your permanent health isnt worth risking. He made good money the last 3 years and if he had an insurance policy he should be able to cash it in.

They're guessing. If his head isn't right after 10 months it's not going to be right after 1 year. He doesn't even need to take a hard hit. Any hit in the right spot will concuss him again. It's not if it will happen again but when. He should retire.
