Jared Allen

Can't get away from these guys.

Peppers to GB, Allen to Chicago

Not at all impressed.

No doubt Allen is still a threat at the line, but he's not the threat he used to be. The Bears lost Peppers, they lost Melton... there's just not enough compliment to let Allen do what he does.

My guess is his numbers go way down this season, and he is overpaid too boot.

I don't know about that. Chicago has really addressed the D in the off season. Pressure is all on Cutler now. They are going to be good.

Looks like Willie Young will be backing up guys again.

They signed Lamar Houston. Thats better than any DE Peppers or Allen have played opposite of in thier career. Both will be double digit in sacks

weird how a team with some big contracts like the bears can go out and add 4 pieces to their dline and resign one of the top turnover forcing cbs in the league. must be nice to a have a gm that knows wtf hes doing...

Tillman is 33 and don't know how much he has left.... Overpaid for backup Willie Young. They only had money because they got out of Peppers contract finally. Now I like the Houston signing but isn't he viewed more as a run stopping end? Then you add Allen which I agree is a good replacement for what they've lost. Oh they lost Wootton and Melton as well.... Who do they have at DT? Idonije? lol

This is where you would chime in if Tillman was on the Lions. Tillman "tested" free agency. Either didn't like what he was offered from other teams or he got no offers. Goes back to Chicago where he's comfortable, knows the system and they obviously wanted him back, right? Not so fast...

If he was a Lion, you would rip the hell out of him and call him a bum because "nobody wanted him". Make fun of Mayhew by calling him Mayhem or something. Don't even try and deny it....but you will.

As for the bears D additions. Fear the Houston signing and Allen signing. Tillman is a playmaker but he is old. That whole fn defense is ancient if you think about it, but i'll admit, they went out and got some "names". Good for them...let's see how long they hold up with no injuries. I'm not too worried about it.

Yep. Started by default here too with the Jones injury.

Houston or Allen get hurt and miss 13 games like Jones did and Young will be starting again.

Lions got Jones,Suh,Fairley,Ansah and Taylor. That's a good reason not to be trying to sign guys like Houston and Allen. Bears had nobody after they cut Peppers and lost Wooten and Melton to free agency and still don't have a good DT. Plus they restructured Cutler to get the cap room. You rip Mayhew for restructuring Suh and Stafford to get talent in 2011, 2012 and 2013 but when Emery does it, he is some sort of genius. Same with cutting Peppers (they still have alot of dead money for Peppers). 8.3 million to be exact for a guy not playing here. I'm sure if Suh moves on like Peppers and has 9.7 million in dead money in 2015, hughes would bring that up.

Plus Emery drafted Shea McClellin in Round 1 in 2012 who is an absolute failure at DE in 2 years. Real good GM there.
