I posted Matt Dery's Locked on Lions Podcast in the Lions team notes and his thoughts on it were the radio station wanted to bring in their "own furniture", aka 'their own people'.

Ernie was an institution and beloved by every Tigers fan and Michigander, the backlash was loud enough to bring Ernie back.

Jim Brandstatter was getting really bad the last few years. Dan Miller seemed audibly frustrated with some of Jim's boneheaded takes recently. I know they made me face palm on multiple occasions.

Thanks. Just one of the statements I saw was he was still great just contract ran out. Maybe they wanted to let him down the best way..

No shit, I remember that there was a giant marqee @ a shopping mall on 14 mile near I75 that had the words BRING BACK ERNIE!! @ the top in big block letters.

I liked Brandy for Lions games. I think he is absolutely awful on Michigan play by play and Dan Dierdorf is also terrible (not that MSU has a much better duo either since Jason Strayhorn is beyond awful). Sad to see him go.
