Josh Hamilton has relasped

meh, as insensitive as it sounds alcohol isn't a big deal as long as the team knows about it and josh doesn't want to keep drinking. if he feels he has it under control, that's when issues happen.

That was a little to far..

Wow, some of the comments under that article were ridiculous. While I want the Rangers to be weakened, I hope that Hamilton can fend this off and continue staying sober. Unless somebody close to you has had alcohol issues, it's tough to understand how much their addiction can ruin.

(The comments underneath the article on the link.)

I have alcohol issues, and they are still funny. However, they may be because of De-sensitizing of my emotions thanks to life in general.

HA!

He went to the bar and had a drink or two, it's not like he went on a 3 day bender.

He's human.

he's also an addict and nearly missed his shot at the big leagues because of that. it's a big deal for the team and for him. but as long as he realizes that he can't control that shit, it's a non-issue.

this story is weak sauce until he beats some strippers or bangs a high school chick in the bar bathroom.

I am very surprised that Hamilton is getting as much support as he is in those comments below the blog, actually. Rangers fans include a lot of stone-cold conservative secessionist "Christian" sociopaths. Personal responsibility, ya'll!!

Then some even have the fucking unmitigated gall to post about Prince Fielder's 214M contract. I thought that rightwingers were all for "free markets". Well, isn't that exactly what Prince did as a "free agent" getting as much loot as he could? Blithering hypocrites, IMO.

Ah, maybe there was a change. The first 5 or so I read were just the most ignorant posts I have read in a while and couldn't handle reading more lol. They were very much along the lines of what some dick Angels fan would write.

and lol to your second half.

Rangers fans were just VERY lucky that there was another franchise that was higher up in the financial "pecking order" of MLB, that took ARoid and some of his bloated contract off their hands, otherwise their franchise might have folded or have been relocated by now. They have absolutely NO room to talk about what the Tigers' owner did to lure Prince here, especially since he coveted Prince from the time that he was a "wee" ( well..maybe not so wee) lad.

Was it whiskey or beer?

I kinda doubt that it was beer, but maybe that is what he started out with, thinking that he could lay off the hard stuff. But Hamilton had to have (or should have) known beforehand, that some patrons were going to recognize him there at that bar, and tweet or text the news to their friends, and VERY soon his drinking binge going viral as a result.

Nowadays, news, especially bad news involving well-known athletes, politicians, and entertainers, travels at almost the speed of light, with all of the gadgets available to transmit it.

Josh might as well have taped a glowing target with a flashing LED arrow on his back, when he decided to fall off the wagon, and do so in public .

Hopefully the Rangers sour on babysitting Hamilton and choose not to offer him a longterm deal. He'd look mighty nice in our lineup as a starting LF.

We already got Miggy a buffet buddy, so a drinking buddy seems like the next logical acquistion.

He is doing a presser now, saying he had about 3 or 4 drinks.

Too much is being made of this maybe.

If he can have 3 or 4 drinks and stop, and not drink the next day, maybe he's cured.

Sometimes the 12 step shit is a little extreme.

Well I know he has been on a lot harder stuff than alcohol. So if he wants to tie one on in the off season more power to him.

However I get a feeling that this is a everyday ordeal.

Not from my experience up close and personal with the disease, sure, sometimes alcoholics who are still functional, can sometimes consciously limit their drinking, but the next time? It inevitably causes them to drink too often and/or to excess, and sooner, rather than later. The only real "cure" is complete abstinence, IMO.

Alcoholics by definition are not really based on how well they can do while drinking or when knowing that they can drink, but rather how well they can do w/o being able to, or being deprived of anything to drink.
