I like it... Whatever it takes to win.... Wilson had to sit because he was struggling. I can see Magglio a veteran playing... We Need Alex to come up with his first hit of the series...

As long as Coke only goes a inning an mostly verses lefty's if possible

Jim's lying. You can't RULE OUT no JV with your season on the line. He just can't tip his hand in the media and to the other team.

I think he's telling the truth here. I can't see him running JV out there, nor do I think he should, If Fister, Max, Coke, Benoit and Papa Grande can't handle the game, I don't know what to tell you.

I believe him.

You don't want to risk JV not being able to start game 1 of the ALCS if we make it, basically putting us in the same boat as this time with having to run out your 2 and 3 starters before your #1.

We have to be able to win with Fister/Scherzer, and you can't let it hang over their heads that you don't trust them and are going to use your Ace in relief.

Baseball is a "TEAM" sport, JV did his part in the ALDS, it's time for the rest of the team to do theirs in game 5.

Leyland said postgame of Game 2 that Verlander was done for the series, then reiterated it today.

I think he isn't pitching tomorrow. This isn't game 7 of the World Series. It is game 5 of the ALDS and we do have a pretty damn good pitcher on the mount (hopefully saturday was just jitters) and great 8-9 combo of Benoit/Valverde

We can win this without Verlander

After an entire year of seeing guys get hot and then pulled for a number of games....i guess it shouldnt surprise me that after 2 great games from Inge we dont see him the rest of the series -.- It not often youll see me rooting for inge but what the heck? lol hes our best defensive 3B and he was FINALLY hitting the frikken ball. The bottom of the order has been horrid...its been even worse since Inge left the line up.

he'll use him, if he absolutely has to, what's he gonna save him for. if we don't win this it's over, there's no freaking tomorrow. if it's good enough for C.C. then it's good enough for J.V.

If Jim is going to insist on putting Kelly in the game, then THIS should be the lineup. I like Avila, I really do, he's had a great year. But he's struggling right now, pure and simple. And this is not the time of year to let him "figure it out." If we move on, then he's had an extra day to rest that knee and maybe take a mental break. We need our hot hands up and down the lineup, and if Jim was really serious about Martinez being available to catch, then this would be the lineup...

Jackson CF
Santiago 2B
Young LF
Cabrera DH
Martinez C
Peralta SS
Ordonez RF
Kelly 1B
Inge 3B

You can not let Victor catch. No way in hell.

Agreed.

1 Wild Pitch could decide this series, and Victor is not that great defensively, plus he's got to be cold as hell, he has not caught in a coon's age.

Not just the one WP but 10 SB. His defense is not a strong suit nor his arm. And I don't want Inge as the added player over Avila, struggles or not.

I'm not sure why everyone is so hell bent on trying to get Verlander into the game. I just don't see the scenario unless we are in extra innings. If we're winning the game, there's no reason to bring him in and if we're losing than we need to get the offense going not pitch Verlander for an inning or 2. Either the offense, Fister, Coke, Benoit and Valverde do their jobs tonight or they don't.

And like I pointed out earlier, if JV gets into this game and we win, he is probably not able to start game 1 of the ALCS, you would be robbing Peter to pay Paul.

And if we win tonight, Fister probably does not start in the ALCS till game 4, do you really want to go Scherzer, Porcello, JV, Fister, Scherzer*, JV* Against Texas?

If the Tigers win tonight Fister will be ready for game 3 since there are 2 off days before game 3.
