Kershaw 6/18/14 - Most Dominant Ever?

Koufax has a 14K no-walk perfect game, so IMO that trumps Kershaw's no-hitter.

Well, if Koufax had had Hanley Ramirez behind him to boot a routine put out, Koufax would have had just another ordinary, every day, run-of-the-mill, garden-variety 14k no-hitter himself.

I guess the point is that there is no point in ranking no-hitters in terms of "domination." We are so desperate for thrills that we have to actually evaluate which no-hitter was the best one?

Well, on talk radio here in Los Angeles, that's what they've been doing this morning anyway.

Nolan Ryan had a no-no with 16 ks and one with 17 ks, but I guess he had some walks in those games.

You remember that Koufax had a perfect game with 14ks.

So, yeah, while no-hitters are rare and obviously they are all dominating performances, some do stand out as being in a class of domination of their own.

The most perfect non perfect game was our guy when the ump screwed him..

It was only a few short years ago, that if someone had told me "Justin Verladnder will not throw any more than two no hitters" I would have thought that person would be probably wrong.

For a couple of years, people went in droves to see Verlander pitch, both at Comerica and on the road, because the way he was pitching in those days, history could have potentially been made on any night.

Anyway, anymore no hitters for Verlander look less likely than they used to.

That said, Verlander is the only active major league pitcher with multiple no-hitters, and the next no-hitter would be truly a memorable event.

Homer Bailey. Not many with two, even less with three. JV was very close to getting that third a couple times.

You never know..

The best perfect game....is the Tigers win and Ernie Harwell calling the game.

Well IMHO then, no perfect game outranks a perfect game that was originally not one, but was later recorded as one. Harvey Haddix in 1959.
