Honestly....i wouldnt mind this draft. Id be a little dissappointed we didnt address Oline or Secondary in Rd 1 but then again i should be used to that by now. David would make a ton of plays and elimates the need to resign Levy or Durant (preferrably Levy).

Detroit Lions

Top needs: CB, RB, OL, LB, S

Rd. 1 (23) LB Lavonte David, Nebraska
Rd. 2 (54) CB Trumaine Johnson, Montana
Rd. 3 (85) S George Iloka, Boise St.

Analysis: Remember, this is my draft. And in my draft, David is unquestionably a first-round pick. He played undersized, but I can see him piling up tackles as a weakside 'backer. He plays sideline to sideline and has the explosiveness to cause problems in blitzing situations. He can also dip and run with running backs flared out, or tight ends. The Lions like what they have up front; it's now time to find some playmakers in the secondary. Johnson is a bigger corner who will make plays and is a solid value in Round 2. Iloka, a safety out of Boise State, is a little overrated for me when you talk about a second-round grade, but I love the value in the third. Offensive line is also a huge need, but this is the way the value lined up for me, and I consider this trio to hit three needs.

Yep, I saw that. It's things like this that make me want to kick Kiper in his little piss pump.

Lavonte David is being projected in the late 2nd, early 3rd round... but we should jump right up there and take him in the first, ignoring all the talent that we could get in the first and still land him in the 2nd.

I like the other two picks, but since half the experts out there are predicting we are interested in those two anyway, not exactly rocket surgery there Kiper.

Oh well, at least he didn't have three different team taking Cody Glenn this time.

something to chew on.....Lions dont have any CB signed for next year, except Ross(IDK) Weaver

you might be surprised come draft day Ink....those projections were when he weighed 213. Hes up to 233 and carried the extra weight very well during the combine. Most things i see having him trending up but theres also a couple other LBs trending up for a position that normally doesnt get much love in rds 1 or 2. So ya...he very easily could fall to mid 2nd. I agree that at 23 itd be a reach with all the talent that should still be on the board....but in all fairness this type of thing is done based on need only and i cant argue that we need help in the back 7. Levy was awful last year. Durant was hurt most of the year. and both are on contract years. The other part of it is Kiper has had an absolute hard on for this guy the entire off season....he talks about him whenever someone gives him the chance to. A trade down to the end of the first and taking a guy like David and picking up an extra 3rd would make me feel better about the pick but bottom line is he would wreak havoc on our D....and those are the type of players we seem to draft....impact guys that will make a difference.

It's like I always say mhughes, a first rounder is a first rounder, no such thing as a reach in my book.

If a guy goes on to the Hall of Fame, no one will remember if he was picked #23 or #30.

Problem I see is that LB is not our priority right now, and while he may be a great player, there are great players that will be on the board when we pick that fill holes. Filling those holes will be the difference between another 1st round loss in the playoffs, or a solid run for the big game.

I don't know about you guys, but I have waited my whole life to see the Lions play on the last Sunday of the season, and I'm not real excited about drafting next year's starting LB this year, when we could have a top CB or a top OL with that pick.

I really dislike this mock. Not the players themselves, which are fine, but the crazy falls by players we could legitimately use right away. For example he has Jonathan Martin (even if he is a RT, he would be a significant upgrade over Gosder) falling to the 41st pick and Mike Adams falling to the 33rd pick. I like David too, but not better than a starting OT.

After how far prince fell last year, I entertain every possible outcome.

I like picks 2 and 3. Especially Tru Johnson. I don't understand the David pick. Seems like a huge reach to me when he can easily be had in the second.

Don`t know much about the kid, but this is one game.

He`s rated a 2nd round corner for a reason, no?

I can post a few more games. That was a playoff game for them.

He's rated in the second round because this year's buzz word is big corners with fluid hips, he's 6'2 and impressed in drills at the combine. Its the reason that Gilmore is going top 15.

Thanks, bro. I'm just asking because i'll be honest, i don't know much when it comes to college football. That's why you don't see me chiming in much when it comes to the draft. At times you will and i may like or love a player or two, but basically, i just enjoy reading the comments from you guys.

I'm no expert obviously but I do watch a lot of college ball and I watch whatever full game tapes you can get on youtube (as opposed to highlight tapes) for fun. I played some ball and I used to love watching film so this has become my draft time hobby.

Gilmore is looking like he is going #7 to the Jags who are rumored to have wood for him.

Trumaine Johnson plays beyond weak for a big corner. He doesnt tackle well only thing he has going for him is he can play the ball in the air which also leads to him getting burnt by better receivers and getting called for pass interference. He would be worth a look in the 3rd IMO.

I could see that. He has been climbing the boards almost daily but he shouldnt be considered that high. Im seeing BUYERS REMORSE!!!

They wanna trade back and take him at 11 or 12 (only Carolina would take him between those picks, and I doubt it). I wonder if they'd take him at 7 if they couldn't trade back. We'll see
