Who is your late round steals(4th or later) who could become a pro bowler within a few years?

My guesses are Braden Hansen C/G
Quarterus Smith, 3-4 OLB
Marcus Davis, WR

Edit: Forgot to add Montori Hughes, DT

I'd be happy if the Lions could finally master the 2nd round much less steal a good player in the late rounds.

Broyles and Delmas and Leshoure no problems with those picks. Just bad luck with Best and Broyles/Delmas lately with injuries. The talent is there and both Delmas/Broyles can recover and be productive in 2013.

Young was talented but insane. Lesson learned but that amount of insanity was unexpected especially after 2011.

Best wasn't bad luck...everyone knew about his past and the lions took a big gamble.

Best was bad luck. Ernie Sims had more concussions then never got one as a pro. Bad luck. And it was bad luck that the doctors lied for awhile that he could come back.

Best's job included being hit by guys who outweigh him by 50-100 pounds. Ernie Sims at least was the one hitting, not being hit.

Also, you don't have to defend the picks every time they're even mentioned. Some of them turned out badly, we've discussed that hundreds of times already. Just leave it alone unless someone really takes a big shot at someone's (like Mayhew) reputation.

Mayhew has done way more good than bad. The ungratefuls should be very happy he is the GM despite the fluke 0-8 finish.

Are you really counting 2008 games on Mayhew? Really, that's how you are going to be with your Mayhew hate? Yeah I think you are. 14+10+6+12=42 losses. 22/4=5.5 wins but then let's actually take a look at what happened for the majority of those losses.

2009 that's Millen stink. Mayhew's hands were tied as nobody wanted to come here, they had alot of dead money and all they had was a draft to clean up the Millen mess. Those 14 losses ARE NOT MAYHEW'S FAULT BASICALLY AT ALL. He gets a year pass.

2010 lost our franchise QB. Injuries happen but the first half of the first game. But that's the Lions luck. Uncapped year helped Mayhew accumulate a ton of talent and start the rebuilding into a competitive team that couldn't finish without their franchise QB.

2011 Mayhew completes the overhaul with LBs and gets the secondary to play well with a healthy Houston/Delmas/Spievey. Stafford plays how he is supposed to play and stays healthy. Boom playoffs despite losing a big playmaker for 10 and a decimated secondary for the last 6.

2012, the talent is still there but injuries mount(especially in an 0-8 second half) and this on the players shooting themselves in the foot with a -16 turnover differential and -10 defenisve tds/specials teams allowed to forced. Both flukes compared to the entire league but also to Lions 2010(+4, even) and Lions 2011 (+11,+1). Plus good DEs in Avril, Jackson and Young failed to show up as previously they had suprising everyone. The talent is there, Mayhew brought it in but it's on the players playing stupidly and doing unexpected things (Young, DEs,4 special teams TDs in 2 games, injuries).

Mayhew has brought this team a ton of talent. Be thankful we got him despite the unforutnate win/loss record.

Damontre Moore - top 5 production, late second/early third round expected pick. Had a poor combine, but hard to argue with the results. Wasn't a scheme-specific player, so there's a good chance he just has great technique and short area quickness. Should add strength, but guys have gotten away with low bench results before.

Marquise Goodwin - all-world speed, but questionable route runner. Getting him off the track full-time and giving him shorter routes where he can make plays in space could turn him into an elite slot guy.

Stedman Baily

Extremely productive. Showcases tremendous physicality in his routes. Uses his hands and body to create separation. Excellent body control. Very reliable target, volume catcher. Soft hands, can make plays off of his frame. Smart receiver who is adept at finds holes and picking up the first down. Tracks the football well over his shoulder and adjusts his body in order to make difficult catches. Competitive.

Lacks ideal size, both in terms of height and bulk. Not an overly explosive athlete. Doesn't change directions with suddenness. Likely won't run a blazing 40 yard dash. Often times most of the attention of the defense was given to teammate and fellow wide receiver Tavon Austin.
NFL Comparison Greg Jennings

I could see him as a lion.
