Decided to make this one a two-man race...the World Series hero and donut shop efficianato....or the two-time MVP and Hall of Famer.

So far....

Catcher- Pudge
Third base- George Kell
RF- Al Kaline
CF- Ty Cobb
LF- Willie Horton
Closer- Willie Hernandez

Polls close whenever I log in on Friday morning.

Gotta go with Newhouser as much as Lolich did in the '68 WS.

Wow this is a tough call because i want them both on my team...

Going with the guy that not only played in Detroit but was also born, raised, and died in Detroit. Prince Hal.

Newhouser was better but I went with Lolich because he was my favorite MLB pitcher when I was a little kid, which makes him my favorite MLB pitcher of all time.

This was a really tough one. I thought Lolich at first, but ended up going with Newhouser. He had a better career and had several years with 20+ wins and three straight with 25+ where he won MVP twice and finished 2nd the other year.

Exchanging votes now. This one could go into OT.

Newhouser has overtaken Lolich. Polls close Friday morning.

This vote was most difficult for me, more than at catcher or leftfield of the positions so far.
I loved Mickey Lolich as a Tigers pitcher and will always have a place in my heart and minds eye for his 3 wins performance in the 1968 World Series.
The all-time lefthander leader in strikeouts at time of his retirement, Lolich was the quintessential "rubber arm" pitcher. First pitch of spring training and last pitch of the season was 95. In between he had one of the filthiest sliders ever by a lefthander. In the end I went with Newhouser the Hall of Famer.
His 3 year stretch of 80 wins is iirc the best all-time. From all accounts and told to me by Pops and Uncle, Great fastball, curve, slider, and change. In the AL and next to Feller the best of that generation.

14-11 Newhouser pulling away in an exciting vote.

Getting some separation. Wonder if it's the fact MLB Network has been mentioning him the last 2 days with Verlander looking to tie his team record with wins in 11 straight starts (Newhouser and Whitehill with 11, JV with 10)
