Levy out since game 1, returns to practice, and playing

Although they've been at full strength in practice, that does not mean they'll have everybody on hand against Jacksonville.

Notably, linebacker DeAndre Levy appears to still be in the return-to-play protocol.

He could play against the Jaguars. But after missing the last two months with quad and knee injuries, and playing in just two of the last 25 games, Detroit is expected to hold him out until at least next week's Thanksgiving game against Minnesota.

"We'll see," Caldwell said.

Mlive

According to MLive he thinks he may have CTE. Seems more and more he is pretty much done with football

It would be a shame, but these guys are people first and players second. Got to take care of yourself...

While I agree with you, none of this came out before his huge contract. Plus walking on planes and climbing volcanos isn't exactly taking care of yourself

I wouldn't let him back on the field, honestly. If I were the Fords, I'd see this as a pending legal issue. If a player thinks they have CTE, it should be the football death sentence, and that player should be forced to retire or sign a waiver if the chooses to play.

Honestly getting sick of this guy now. At first, I was on his side. Even with all the dumb off the field adventures during the offseason, the introvert attitude, the beard, the weirdness. Even the injuries. I had this dude's back. Then he comes out and starts talking about concussions. Ok...i can live with that. Speak out, Levy....have a voice....good for you. No issues. Then he comes out and states that he "might" have CTE but he's trying to get on the field still??? Whaaaaaaat?! Now that's some bullshit lol. And he won't even talk to the media about his claims but he'll put it out in another magazine for everyone else to read? This guy's a joke in my eyes now. I'm fully convinced that the organization has had him evaluated from head to toe. Closed door meetings with Caldwell and the Ford's. The whole nine yards. He needs to retire if he thinks he has CTE. What's he trying to accomplish by not retiring? Just collecting a check? Has his brain completely turned into ice cream? Ripping on the very same organization that gave you millions?? FUCKING RETIRE! I feel no sympathy for guys like this.....none.

Im not 100% sure but I don't ever remember him really having issues with consussions

Dudes just getting paid. The last year and a half of this dudes career has just been off. Either way, I think this guys free ride is just about over. He's essentially not played since being paid, and now he thinks he's got CTE. CTE symptoms must've kicked in the second he signed his new contract.

The guy spends the offseason climbing volcanos, hiking through jungles and walking on planes. Then when it is time to play football, he has a mystery injury one after another. Now that he is healthy from the hip/knee all of a sudden he has CTE. I was fine with the Lions not trying to get bonus money back from CJ when he retired, but they have to do something about Levy

A couple of days ago, after reading more stories on Levy and posting them I was starting to get the same feeling about him. The pics on the plane, and one other daredevil stunt oh the volcano? along with everything else.
Teams usually have something in the player's contract about doing dangerous things. How was Levy able to do those things and the Lions didn't tell him to stop?

It does seem like after he signed, it's one thing after another with his health.
I was also thinking, it would really be in the teams best interest that he does play, play well, and maybe then with all this 'drama' see if another team would be interested. Either a player or a draft pick?

Move on, but that would probably only work if he can come back and play at his former level soon after his return which looks like Thanksgiving.
Lastly, with his talk about CTE, he might have screwed the Lions from actually moving him even if he is all the way back.
Next April draft the Lions need to go all in on Defense.

Exactly, this guy not only screwed the Lions by not playing, he just made himself untradeable. He's quickly become my least favorite player in the NFL. I hope all this blows up in his face in some way, or it becomes a league issue and Levy is essentially taken off of our payroll. Fuck him

Give him the Titus Young treatment, let him pick up trash around the Lions facility, followed by a swift release once he's cleared to play

He just put the Lions in the worst possible spot. He is untradeable at this point.....often injured.....high salary.....CTE talk. But there is also no way they can play him either. With the sometimes over the top focus on player safety.....how could they put him on the field?

Like Tony, I have always defended Levy until this point. As of right now, the best thing he could do is say thank you for the two years of pay and retire........freeing the Lions of his contract and salary cap hit (after the first year). If he continues to just take their money but not step foot on the field then fuck him!!

Make him play and let him die with cte. Who cares. ...that's what he gets paid for.

Nah, I just want him and his salary gone. Crazy that the CTE comment comes out on the wake of him getting the OK to play. This has been his plan all along. Working the system. Reminds me of that guy that misses 6 months of work every year, but is still employed. Yeah, that fucking freeloading scumbag

Unlikely to be ready by Vikings game. Of course he won't. We'll be hearing this until the Lions are out of playoff contention, then he'll return. I say fool him into dressing for the game, and cut him in the locker room b4 the game
