No surprise

Lions OLB DeAndre Levy plans to sign his restricted free agent tender.
Levy was tendered at the second-round level, which would pay him $1.93 million next season. He's still penciled in at outside linebacker for now, but will be a candidate to shift to the middle if the Lions lose Stephen Tulloch in free agency.

Levy in the middle is not ideal, IMO. At that point I'd be hoping they draft a MLB in R1 instead of CB...but with BPA they might go completely different route altogether in the draft so time will tell.

I agree its not ideal to have him in the middle but nice to know that he can be decent there. We have depth at the olb position. Which is why Tulloch hasnt been a priority of late but I'm hoping they bring him back because he made things happen in the middle and really made the lbs better as a unit.

Maybe Hogue has upped his game? The coaches know better than we do if he is good enough to start. Chances are he still needs another year or two, but just a guess as to the depth referred to. Palmer and Carpenter are still solid backups who can fill in for a couple games as well. I'd still prefer they pick up someone in FA or draft, but that is my guess as to whom motown was referring to as depth. Not ideal, but still better than what we had in 2008, so in relative terms it is good???

Palmer wasn't offered a contract to return...he is a Free Agent as is Bobby Carpenter.
