Wow, did not expect anything like that.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Tim Lincecum is staying put with the San Francisco Giants just as he hoped, reaching agreement Tuesday on a $35 million, two-year contract through the 2015 season.

The deal is pending a physical, which had yet to be scheduled. Lincecum has a full no-trade clause in the new deal.

Lincecum went 10-14 with a 4.37 ERA and 193 strikeouts in 32 starts this season.

WOW! If they let him hit the open market what would he get....$10M a year? It looks like they over paid by a ton! If those numbers get you $17.5 per year I think Max is going to ask for $25M

Pretty much thinking it's a payment of gratitude. And one of those anomalies like the comp in the neighborhood that is out of line with the rest of the houses.

that would be pretty stupid. He pretty much stole the $44M he earned over the past 2 years. 10-25 record with an ERA around 4.7, WHIP around 1.4 and a negative WAR both years.

Well, so be it. I didn't make the offer. The Giants did. But he was 20-25 not 10-25. But W-L is not a main metric anyway.

"Manager Bruce Bochy has expressed encouragement with the pitcher's progress to make changes to not only his delivery and mechanics but also his between-start routine and fitness."

If Lincecum reverts back to his old self, this will become a bargain.

And since even I know why he's faltering, I expect that the people close to him do as well.

No way he reverts back to his old self. He's been getting overpaid for some time. He should be playing for free.

Doesn't mean he's going to hit 97 on the Stalker. It means, for starters that he can once again throw the fastball and curve from the same arm slot and release point. Lengthen his stride and increase hip rotation and separation of open hip and closed shoulders just before release. His spine tilt needs to revert to a greater angle. His delivery has changed from when he was lights out. Focusing on improving his fitness and between-start routine may be the solution. Some of these things I've noticed and others I have researched.
