Some nights after drinking some whiskey I read LKP's posts I believe we are pretty close to making a run at the playoffs. Then I watch Seattle and damn we have a long way to go.

Yep. They need a complete overhaul at corner/safety and about 3 more competent receivers. Then..... Maybe...

Maybe

It is frustrating watching teams rise and fall while he Lions always seem to stay the same under the fords..... A long ways away it feels ...

I don't expect them to make the Super Bowl in my lifetime anyway...but I can hope and root.

They likely won't make it in my lifetime, but IF they do, it will be bittersweet after all these years of futility. Only those now eligible or who are receiving SS benefits (except the disabled) are still around who were old enough to witness the Lions 50s NFL championships.

It feels like for every changed GM, head coach, cordinator, qb , rb, we are rewarded with mediocrity. The most frustrating thing is that ownership seems ok with a goal of just making the playoffs

This is the view from my seats. I think they are better than okay with it.

Teams actually put up banners for just making the playoffs? or is it just the Lions?

I missed when the NFC logo switched from 3 stars to 4 stars.

Playoffs? Oh, right. Heck I'm just happy when the Lions win a Regular season game. Playoffs are a screwed up dream that seems fantastic at first only to turn into a nightmare, then I wake up with a sort of deja vu sensation and wonder if it actually happened or not because the Lions being in the playoffs can't actually have happened, could it???

It was back when they switched from 3 to 4 divisions.
