Lions jump up 1 spot in this week's "power rankings"

ill keep saying it because rankings like that take it into account.....we have 1 win vs teams with records over .500. We have 3 losses vs teams with wins over .500. Baseball has a "quality starts" stat....if the lions were graded on quality wins we'd have like 1 or 2 this season. Point differential isn't very good for having 10 wins. We will need to play better vs better teams if we want to make a run into the playoffs. That's why they would rank GB....a team that gets to sit their qb the entire 4th quarter 1/4 of the season because they dominate other teams so bad....ahead of us.

The Colts are sort of in the same boat as us in that regard. They have losses @broncos, vs. eagles, @steelers, and vs. patriots. However they are 5-0 against the rest of their crappy division in the Texans, Titans, and Jaguars.

They do have home wins against Baltimore and Cincinnati though.

The thing that makes me so mad about Green Bay being ranked ahead is that their arguments for putting them ahead are justified. We got wins against teams that were supposed to be good/really good this season but are magically playing like shit, and still fold when playing a bonafide playoff team. They'll get those big wins one of these days. Maybe week 17?

We beat Green Bay by double digits. Lions should be number 2 behind Patriots. Then when Lions beat Pats in Super bowl at neutral location, Lions will have earned number 1 status. Pats just lucky they got us in off week in Foxboro.

I would put Lions ahead of Colts, other than that I don't have much a problem with the list.

I think Arizona is too high, but they just keep winning, so it's hard to knock them without knocking ourselves, winning in similar fashion.

Arizona should stay ahead of us just based on Drew Stanton being their starter..

I have no problem with these rankings and would probably rank them very similarly myself. One of the biggest indicators to me this deep into the year is point differential. Teams like the Pats and Green Bay lead the way, and they also pass the eye test. Others like the Cards, Lions, and Cinci have the same or similar excellent records but their +/- isn't too great. Watching them, I still think they are a little bit fraudulent or lucky, if not just inconsistent.

makes sense, gotta earn that respect, gotta win in GB and get that home playoff game, Green Bay deserves to be ranked ahead of them right now their offense is much better than ours and nobody expects them to win Sunday.

NOBODY!!

Colts are terrible.

Dallas ass fucked them in their own house on national TV. Luck looked like Ryan Leaf.

Cowboys also had something to play for (division title), vs Colts who had wrapped up the division a week prior and didn't really care. not saying that had anything to do with it, but that kind of mentality can change some perceptions.

By nobody, do you mean in MSM, or ESPN specifically?

Certainly you are not referring to the entirety of the planet as I'm pretty sure the Lions organization and also a percentage of fans are expecting them to win, as is anyone placing bets straight up for the Lions to win.

Yes I'm largely referring to all the pundits, and a large portion of those that banter here...personally my heart says yes lions can win this, my head says no, no they can't

Lol

Packers average over 40 ppg at home.

Lions are 4-3 on the road

Lions are coming off a game were they struggled to score vs a team that averages giving up a league leading 29 ppg.

Lions are 2nd in the league at points against but only 13th in pass yds against. If they cant get their run game going vs our #1 run defense then expect arod to just air it out.

Is it Sunday yet???? Lol. I just want it over with...one way or the other. At least we're already IN the playoffs and don't need this game to get in. All this speculating over seeding and byes is killer. While I'd love to get this win, mostly I'm hoping for no major injuries to important players...

Reading a convo thread below the ESPN article regarding Rodgers' calf strain, and Packers fans are posting their usual trash about "Dirty" Detroit and the Lions long losing streak in WI/Lambeau.

They also have posted about the Lions never playing in a SB, as opposed to their Packers 4 SB wins. NVM that their state has ZERO WS wins from their MLB franchise, the NL Milwaukee Brewers, their NBA franchise in the Bucks last won a championship when most cars were still running on leaded gasoline, and although WI is a very cold winter state, it has never fielded an NHL franchise...when even the tropical state of Florida has two...lol!!

If you're going to spin it all negative I'll refute you with more logic (since you lack some) lions are tied for 7th in yards per attempt in the air against, second in interceptions, 5th in quarterback rating against, 6th in sacks, tied for 8th in passing touchdowns allowed, and 1st in least rushing attempts against them while being third in passes attempts against us.. granted the packers have many great things they do too and could easily go off.. Don't spin it wrongly as we are a middle of the road against the pass.. Everything else says we aren't.

Lets analyze this since you are so logical:

"Packers average over 40 ppg at home.

Lions are 4-3 on the road"

This is called a fact. This is neither negative or positive. This is what it is.

"Lions are coming off a game were they struggled to score vs a team that averages giving up a league leading 29 ppg"

This is a recent example of a road game where we couldn't score against a team that gives up 29 points per game. This was used to back the above 4-3 road record showing that we don't play as well on the road. Again...the packers score 40 ppg at home.

"Lions are 2nd in the league at points against but only 13th in pass yds against. If they cant get their run game going vs our #1 run defense then expect arod to just air it out."

Lions are 2nd in the league at points against. This is also a fact. but since you like to paint facts as either positive or negative....this is positive.

13 th in pass yards against. Also a fact and was used to bring up my next point...that if they cant run vs our #1 defense (yet another POSITIVE FACT) that I would expect the packers to air it out.

So....not entirely sure why you thought my post was "spun" to be negative....unless you just like to start shit with me everytime I post.
