Lions Trade Up Not Down

That's not what I meant. If you want to get back to the playoffs they need to produce, short term. You okay with them winning 5 games? I'm not.

Reiff Broyles Bentely, Fairley LeShoure and Young all had the talent to produce short term. Same with Stafford, Delmas, Pettigrew, Levy and Suh. Heck Best even came right in and produced short term.

Injuries was the only thing stopping them NOT TALENT.

Come on I'm not going back to the injury thing. Staff was drafted 5 years ago. So 5 years in a row of injuries but this is the year they stay healthy?

YOU pointed to last years draft as having played very little and then said the Lions aren't good drafters.......how else am I supposed to take what you said??

Am I ok with them winning 5 games? Not sure what you're asking. They won 4 last year so I'll assume you mean they are going to win 5 this year??

Way to early to say that 15 min BEFORE FA begins and an entire month before the draft.

But no, I would NOT be happy with 5 wins next year.

Lets go a different route, the guys played little in 2012. Do you know if any of them will be good pro's down the line? No way to know, it would be a pure guess..

Stafford is the perfect example 33 games in a row after being labeled the king of injury prone. It's not Mayhews fault for anyones injury. They can get healthy.

I agree. Nobody knows for sure. But to point to one specific class and then jump to them NOT being good drafters is a reach when that class has played one year.

You basically just listed guys in the past 5 years that have been injured yet in 2013, you have faith that won't happen and suddenly we're back to 10 wins.

I'm not actually. 1st round picks we've been okay. Once we get to the 2nd and 3rd, not so good. Granted, it goes down for all teams when come to success but we seem to be more bad than the rest. I just want more than 1-2 guy that we drafted in the 2nd round or later and say "yeah he's been good" for a 4-5 year run.

I do. At least not the majority of the year. Maybe a game or 2. Fairley can play 16, LeShoure can and proved 14, same with Reiff, same with Benltey, same with Broyles(he was ready in preseason) and any rookie has nothing to do with the injury of past Lions.

Jason Fox could play 16 games. That's how much the past has to do with 2013 other than Broyles who has the worst injury.

Hey dude, I hope you're right but at this point we have a ton of people who left via free agency. Lot of holes to fill.

But don't bring up Fox though, lol. Sure he could play 16 but he also might get hurt on Wednesday.

Maybe I walked into the middle of a conversation.....were you saying 2012 was a bad class or all of Mayhew's drafts have been bad?

As I look at it NOW, after round 1 he's hasn't been successful. Injuries are part of it but bad picks are also part of it. IMO.

Love your enthusiasm....but you have to be more realistic than this. Guys can be injury prone......they absolutely can....(im lookin at you Kevin Jones). COULD all those guys play 16 games in 2013.....sure.....its possible.

It's also POSSIBLE that Schwartz calls me up to return kicks, Stephon Logan breaks Calvin Johnsons single season receiving record in CLEVELAND and Thimunga Biakabatukaamaneualneh comes out of retirement to run for 2200 yards in 2013.

Time to be a little more realistic. Just a touch. Lets shoot for Fox playing AT ALL before we have him playing 16 games a year, ok?

Agreed.

Though you HAVE to look at trades as part of it. (trades that include players for JUST draft picks).

Willie Young
Chris Houston
Corey Williams

have all been aquired with 4th round picks or later.....which is pretty damn good.

Green
Greenwood
Bentley
Fox
Whitehead
Lewis
Lewis

Those seven could still pan out one way or another. Yes, I know not all of them will, but there is talent in those 7 guys.....so we'll just have to wait and see on them.

Trades are fine but many of those are gone. Those 7, they might be but I'd like to have more than "might be"
