We replaced him with some dude wearing broken 3D glasses. Discuss.

Ansah>LoJack. Idk why everyone is hating on him. They had good coaching at senior bowl and they put him in the wide 9 and he showed what he could do. He did his job well and will be a stud DE for years. "He didnt produce in college." Have you watched the tape on him and highlights? He's got skill and needs some work but will bea damn good player

Should've seen it coming when Lions Twitter immediately gave him LoJack's jersey number. He was a solid rotational player. I wonder if the Lions pulled their offer or if he just took the Vikings because of the better opportunity for playing time?

Who cares what he's wearing? Why is everyone so fixated on that?

And who the fuck is Lawrence Jackson anyways? I'll take a kid with freakish athletic ability and tremendous upside over a backup any day all day.

Discussion over

You wearing a pair of Ziggy's to the games next year Tony?

I'm happy with the pick. Think his upside is tremendous. Hasn't had off the field stuff our injury concerns and is a athletic freak. Dude could have shown up I'm a clown costume and i couldn't have cared less about his fashion.

keep drinking that kool-aid, playa. if Ansah isn't immediately a 10+ sack a year guy, day one, he's a bad pick.

I'm as big a Mayhew supporter as there is but to think Ansah is better than any of the smorgasbord of rushers we could get at the top of 2, you're hoping for a lot.

we pretty much put ourselves behind the 8 ball on grabbing 3 straight starters. easily could've went CB-1/DE-2/OL or LB-3.

now if Watson doesn't fall to us at 36 we're literally reaching at any position we pick because there's zero guys left who fill a need in the BPA/value paradigm.

Justin Hunter/Robert Woods in the 2nd? Woohoo!!!! another great value pick with only three starters on the Oline, two LB's, and one starting CB. . .

I don't like Jamar Taylor but he'll be there. You could plug Warford in day 1. Still grab another DE if you want 'em so bad no one else does.

Some of you are just never happy..
But as for round 2 I see 4 options. Watson, carradine, hunter, and woods

A bad pick if he doesnt record 10+ sacks? Cmon now. Its not just all about sacks. Lets see how the kid plays. This kid is raw but his upside is through the roof. Mayock had explained it over and over again.

Youre right though...hes a high 1st rd pick and i expect him to contribute immediately as well but to call him a 'bad pick' if he doesnt record over 10 sacks is beyond ignorant. This kid is going to be special but it may take some time. He should be beasting it with Suh and Fairley by his side.

Tony, do you remember on the old espn board how there was a bunch of people similarly bashing on the Giants for taking JPP? Man I sure do, so I'm not surprised many are not liking Ansah on here.

I know some are saying how JPP was taken 10 spots lower, but that was a stronger draft at the top and in retrospect anyone who doesn't think JPP could have been a top 5 based on current play is either a hater or blind.

there's literally 4-5 guys who could immediately go into a 3 man rotation with Willie and Jason and do exactly what Ansah is gonna do next year... unless he's a 10+ sack a year guy in year 1! anything other and he's providing the exact same/worse value than a guy we can get at 36, imo.

otoh we could've taken Milliner, solidified our back end. or taken one of the Guards, beefed up the Oline, and still been able to get the pass rusher at 36.

sure I could be biased (which I don't really have a reason to be being a Mayhew supporter) but it doesn't mean my plan isn't sufficiently optimal to what we're lining up to do. . .

bottom line is we're lined up to either pull a major reach tomorrow or somehow pull off a trade back. former is much more likely than the latter, imo, which is an L in terms of having the best draft possible!

+1.

Warford is decent but the whole issue of taking a linemen early has been because they thought Reiff would be better on the inside. if we think Reiff is the day 1 starter at LT then we really only need 1 player for the oline as we have Reiff-Sims-Raiola-Rookie-Hilliard. they've played it like they want Reiff at RG so a starter at LT has been up there with DE in terms of priority.

difference is there was 100% going to be a DE there at 36 that we could plug and play if we take Warmack/Cooper/Milliner.

unless things fall perfect there isn't a starter at oline we can get unless the perfect scenario falls, getting a plug-n-play LT/RG without shuffling around. right now this looks unlikely!

bottom line is either Mayhew/Schwartz have a lot more leash than originally thought and don't have to win this year or they are incompetent and being optimal, in a draft where it was pretty easy to do so, wasn't apparent.
