Lol! Brady Hoke Fell Asleep on Recruiting Visit

I guess Michigan really does recruit itself. ...so why couldn't RR bring in top-ten classes? Hoke could do it in his sleep.

Hoke slept through his whole coaching tenure. No wonder he never wore the headset on the sidelines, can't interrupt those sweet sweet Zzzz's.

Deveon told the story briefly on the radio show last night

Was asked how did a kid from ohio end up here

He said how could he not like a guy whio felt so comfortable at his parents house he fell asleep

And yet another football player who claims that the previous coaching staff didn't teach him properly. Wheatley is the one who taught deveon to pass block. Another Hoke fail.

Eh, you hear that about every new staff. "Oh, the coaches really teach us how to play correctly now." There was plenty of good pub about how Hoke and Co taught everyone the proper techniques.

Sadly, I think both were correct. Hoke added some things from RR and missed some more until Harbaugh fixed it properly.

I just don't get -- here or on any message board -- the idea that there is any debate about coaching ability when it comes to the past two and current MICHIGAN head coaches.

Hoke, God Bless him, is a .500 MAC coach whose greatest victory is the BCS Sugar Bowl win with the team he inherited from Rich Rod.

Rich Rod, to his credit, took WVU to heights most never thought and did well at his alma mater. But outside of WVU and his first year in Tucson, he's been capable of losing 2-3 games/year everywhere he's been and is basically an "8-4" lifetime kind of guy.

Harbaugh has won NFC Titles, came within a power outage of winning the SuperBowl and did as much, or better, in his short time at Stanford than either Hoke or Rich Rod.

I just don't think it's even close and don't get the apologetic nature of those who want to make excuses for Rodriguez or Hoke. Harbaugh is head and shoulders above the other two and really, might be one of the best coaches in all of football.

Hell, look at Saban - he was average to below in the NFL and couldn't get back to college fast enough.

Maybe only Pete Carroll can say he has had the same success but he's also got about 15yrs on Harbaugh. Check back in 2030 and we shall see ...

I don't think we are debating that Hoke sucks as a coach. Big shocker.

But every new coaching regime has quotes coming out from players about how they are finally learning great technique, how everyone buys in, etc...

I'm just cutting thru the bullshit.

With every change comes the same coach speak shit ...this is different with Harbaugh. No need to spin shit.

Agree. it's also kind of ridiculous that people hem and haw over all sorts of ancillary issues, and get in incredibly heated arguments over what is wrong with a team when the answer is most obviously: the guy in charge is unorganized, and can't coordinate the preparation and planning needed to win this team sport.

"he needs time to get his recruits"

"there's not enough talent on the OLine"

"they need a full season to learn the system"

"we need to take better care of the ball"

Pfff. Any good coach can perceive a problem and address it in practice. maybe not all season long, but definitely in a week or two. When you see the same problems linger each week, or even get worse over the season, it's like... "It's the head coach, stupid."

If I remember correctly, it was mostly the defensive players saying that (I think Mike Martin gave a quote).

The defense stayed solid throughout Hoke's 4 years, more or less. The obvious conclusion is that Mattison was a better coach than Hoke & did his job the right way.

Agree...... "It's the head coach, stupid."

Head coach. Not offensive coordinator if the offense is a tire fire. Not defensive coordinator if defense is a tire fire. Not position coach. Head coach.

it goes back to the RichRod Excuse Makers acting like our defensive coordinators were a problem RichRod was just cursed with... "What do you expect? Greg Robinson is our DC. You expect the defense to get better?"
