LOL @ Maryland's "investigation" and "report"

Deadspin nailed it:
"The resulting report couldn?t even get through a one-sentence summary of its findings without undermining itself. From the Post:
'The commission found that the Maryland football team did not have a ?toxic culture,? but it did have a culture where problems festered because too many players feared speaking out,? according to a copy of the report obtained Thursday by The Washington Post.'

"We don't have a toxic culture, however we have a culture where toxic things are permitted to occur, which our lawyers said 'sounds less guilty.'"

Sounds like their strength and conditioning coach was a real monster, and Durkin knowingly allowed him to operate this way, i.e. "enabled" it. Sounds like even assistant coaches felt he was a problem, but were afraid to confront Durkin over him.

I still don't see how or why they'd retain Durkin... even if you cynically want to say it's all about wins and losses, Durkin is no better than Canada so far. maybe even worse.

I felt all along Durkin was done. I think they just needed to investigate so they could find a reason to fire him and not pay his buyout.

I think the word 'toxic' is now like 'problematic'. You can use it knowing that some people will think it means one thing and others will dismiss it as not meaning much of anything. You can use it for whatever you want. It falls anywhere on a scale of severity.

I am shocked! I dont know how you can bring him back after all this like nothing ever happened.

They dismissed the strength and conditioning coach that killed a kid though, right?

I can't remember that part.

I think the game this Saturday just got a lot easier to win for MSU.

the reports I read said the UMaryland board of directors wanted to keep Durkin and pressured everyone else to go along with it(!!!)

WTF is wrong with them?
