Totally exposed by NAVY. Really did not look good, for those of you who didn't watch the game.

Sure, everybody will have a bad game, but those who are thinking he can replace Stafford need to watch this game because he looked realm bad after the first series.

Stafford had a bunch of bad games. Dan Marino had a good jr. year. Senior year not so much, 17 TD's, 23 INT. One game isn't a big deal.

God it really is going to happen.. I total rebuild...

Marino never won a Super Bowl. The writing was on the wall. ;)

I can almost guarantee the Lions are not taking a QB in the 1st next year. Every scout seems to agree that no QB in next year's draft is going to be any better than Stafford, and the team has a large financial commitment to Staff.

Love him or hate him, he's here a while longer, because it doesn't make sense to go in a different direction next season. While the fans may hate him, football guys seem to think he's still a damned talented guy they can turn around.

The next GM is going to keep him, and give him a coaching staff that can do something with him, and if that doesn't work out, he will be cut after 2017. But the next guy will absolutely give him an opportunity.

A mid-round QB is a given, with Orlovsky hitting the pavement. But a 1st rounder? I'll believe it when I see it.

As for Lynch, all I can say is I am proud of my Midshipmen. They played a hell of a game against a very good QB.

Got to agree to a point. I wouldn't discount a team like Houston giving us a Cutler package for him. To a new GM that would be a treasure trove.

That's the only way I see Stafford gone. The Rapaport tweets that he could be cut... total bullshit.

I see no way Stafford is cut, but if someone gives us a first and a third, Cutler style, I can see him traded. But you still won't get a better QB out of this draft.

How bout Carson Wentz much, much, much, later. Develop the guy, already technically much more sound than Lynch and Stafford. Another product from, yep, North Dakota State. Guy reminds me of Rodgers in some ways, just bigger

Wish I could offer an opinion, but to be honest, I know nothing about him. I watch 3-4 college games every Saturday, and I have yet to see him play. He's just an unknown to me.

Hard to say much on this Wentz guy from just that clip. With no comparable video to look at, can't really tell what is the product of playcalling, of the system, etc...

But at an initial read, I see a guy who has a big arm, and can make some deep throws, but maybe doesn't know when to take some off it. He drops his arm angle low a lot, which could be problems at the next level. The one thing I don't like is I don't see him going through his progressions very well. Very stationary head. Don't see a lot in moving the defense around with his body language, he seems to stare down the initial target.

Please bear in mind, I am no scout, and this is not a lot to look at on the guy, so that's probably a very bad look at him to comment from. It's just my initial thoughts.

You never know. Some QB that come out aren't as good as advertise, Matt, and others who surprise. Plus April is a long way out. If we get a new HC and new scheme I could see attempt at least of trying to trade him.

Getting someone at least as good as Matt is not the prize imo. Get someone that maybe plays safe, consistent - and save money to put elsewhere.

You just describing Matt. If this is another Matt Stafford no thanks.

I did in fact describe Matt. Aside from this guy being, I think they said, 6' 6", I see a lot of the same style of play, including overthrowing targets down the side, and throwing into coverages he shouldn't.

Again though, this film is a very small sample size, and I don't pretend I can break down a QB on film like I am a scout. I think I know the game better than the average casual fan, but probably not as well as the average die-hard fan, so I don't want to pretend to be something I am not.

I just hope our backup isn't Dan Orlovsky.

I doubt it very much.

I don't think the Lions are dumping Stafford and moving to a new QB, but I would be shocked if a new GM and a new coach didn't want to draft a younger guy and groom him for a few years.

We should get a 5th round pick, maybe even a 4th for losing Fairley, so that might be the ideal freebie pick to spend on a kick like Coker out of Alabama. He's got a nice completion percentage, can go deep when he has to, and manages a game well. He could be a nice addition to groom for the future.

That's the kind of QB I'd take. Accuracy, and manages game well.

Another mid-late round guy I think we could be keeping an eye on is Travis Wilson from Utah. He's at almost 70% completion rate now, and at 6' 6" 240lbs he's a hard guy to bring down.

He's mobile, and goes through his progressions well. Won't jump early when pressure comes, but isn't afraid to tuck it and go if he gets open field.

Good arm angle, good touch on the ball, but I don't like the spiral coming off his arm. Lots of wobble makes it a tough catch on a bullet. That can be coached.

Whomever they get to replace Stafford, they better be fucking film room rats and smart. Stafford is not smart and no one compliments his ability to study film. Brady, Peyton, and other great QBs spent an amazing amount of time studying film with the ability to recall what they saw on film and in previous games to better attack defenses. If you want a top QB, it actually starts there.

Take a guy that who maybe one day starts here and if he fails, it's easier to replace and try again because of the money.
