Lynch???

I agree any college QB can come in and get 1 win; however, I don't see the high potential in any of these guys to eventually be playoff winning QBs. Lynch has shown fragility vs the better opponents.

7 years and Matt isn't any closer to becoming playoff winning QB's. Just go watch Stafford tape while at Georgia, if you can find it, and other highly drafted QB. Most of them have mess up games. Last contact for Matt, need to draft a guy sooner or later.

Where did I say any of this?????

WHERE!!!???!!!????!!!

I have REPEATEDLY said there is not a single QB that I would take in R1.

Who do YOU want to replace Stafford? Do YOU want Goff? How about Lynch who couldn't beat Houston yesterday? He threw an INT that helped Houston acquire life in a game they were down, but crawled back for the win after the INT and then the next possession 3 & out that Memphis had. Lynch is showing he cannot win vs better competition. Lions already have that in Stafford, do they not?

Who? Who can the Lions get that is better than Stafford Day 1? I'll settle for will be better than Stafford in Year 2.

There isn't a single QB coming out of college who I view as NFL ready or even a viable Year 2 starter. I most certainly would not waste a R1 pick on any of them, preferring to upgrade the DL in R1 instead.

I'm ok with waiting till R4-7, and whomever the Lions new GM/Coaches draft, praying it works out, regardless of who it is. Will I be pleased if it is Jones, FUCK NO! Maybe if they picked him up as a UDFA I'd be ok with it, but even that is a barely.

Lynch also helped bring them down the field for a field goal and the kicker booted it and they lost the game.

Who are all the great player on mephis he gets to play with.

Your logic does not seem consistent. You judge QB based on super bowls. So following the same logic I figured a college QB that wins title would be high on your list. Because that's what matters to you.

Seems like you are using one thing to judge college players and another to judge pro players.

We need a QB, I'm taking the best option out of college. If scouts say that is lynch and we need to use a 1st round then that's what I am doing.

Stafford has the most talent around him in college, based on being ranked #1 overall in preseason. Lynch does not have the same luxury. I don't consider them on equal teams so win loss record does not mean a lot to me.

I'm so tired of hearing that argument. "Who's better in college than what we have now?"

They are college kids. You have zero idea how they will grow in an NFL system.

I'm just tired of this entire circle jerk when it doesn't matter what any of us think. After today's win, it is possible the firings will stop and we will be left with the same core and coaches we have now. I'm not for that, but the Ford's haven't been ones to make quick decisions.

I sure hope one meaningless win doesn't change the long-term process of finding a new coach and GM.

Martha really can't afford to keep the current regime in place, and her advisors are telling her that.

From a PR perspective, if they are retained, it sends the message that her family had the right people all along and she fired Mayhew and Lewand as scapegoats.

She's already publicly made statements about the failures of the team. She really can't back peddle now. She's all in whether she likes it or not.

I actually feel a little bad for Sheldon White.

He's been given the impression that he can retain his job, but on what grounds? He doesn't get a draft before someone takes his spot. He doesn't get to make any trades since the deadline is passed. He doesn't really get a crack at being the guy to captain free agency.

He's really a meaningless figurehead with no legitimate power, and hence, no ability to prove he's worthy of a look or not.

He's fighting, like any of us would, to keep a job and earn a promotion... but he has no ability in the world to earn it or prove himself. That's gotta suck.

Ah, I don't feel sorry for him. He's been making a ton of money. If he's worth his weight, he'll land somewhere.

That's the interim title for us. But as long as he's been here he either hasn't done a thing or his opinions never matter. He doesn't deserved to keep his job.

Oh, I'm not saying he deserves the job. I don't care if we win the rest of the schedule, I would rather have a GM with experience or a young sharpshooter.

I'm saying I feel bad for a guy when they make him feel like he has a chance... when there is clearly no merit for him to stand on.

If he doesn't realize he's done in 2 months.. How smart can he really be?

So
I can almost guarantee the Lions are not taking a QB in the 1st next year. Every scout seems to agree that no QB in next year's draft is going to be any better than Stafford, and the team has a large financial commitment to Staff.

What scouts have you seen say that? Most of what I've seen is cook and Goff are guys that you take if you want a guy that can come in and be competitive. Safest bet if you want to win 1st year with a QB. While Lynch is the highest ceiling., but can struggle year 1.

I haven't seen anything saying none can be better then staff.

The financial statement doesn't make sense. You can cut staff and draft a QB #1 overall AND have 5 million more in cap space then just having staff. Plus you would have 15+ million more in 2017.

Or you could designate him aa post June 1st cut, draft a guy #1overall and have about 10 million more in cap space the next two years then you would just having Stafford on the team. Financially it is easy and could be considered smart to move on. As long as you get as good production from the rookie (QB rating in the 20s) there is only benefit to the team.

What happened in the game?. Was 25/34. Were guys not making plays after the catch or was he not seeing the guys open down the field?

You're right. Matt never had games like these. Lol. I could bring up Marino again, who had a terrible senior year.

I have no idea what kind of QB Lynch becomes but maybe you need to seriously look at Matt Stafford's games in college.

Doesn't matter he already had a bad game earlier. He's done. Lol.

FWIW, until today, Lynch hadn't had a great game since before Halloween.

People will always be skeptical of stat padding QBs that play against inferior competition.

We drafted a QB at one with nothing special on his resume.

Your point is well taken but my post was aimed at the ones "Lynch early round one QB" followed by "See" after a bad game. The same poster.
