I get trading Scherzer...but trading both him and Porcello?

Damn, if Smyly doesn't work out as a starter after trading Max it could be bad, but how are we going to replace 2 starters traded away? It's unlikely we get a MLB ready/capable arm in return outside of what we would be targeting by trading them in the first place. I don't want Ortega, Crosby, or Alvarez in our rotation next year.

Everything I've seen says or, not and. I doubt we trade both.

It's one or the other. Looks like we are going to sign Nathan. Also try to trade Max for a 2nd baseman and LF'er. Porcello is possibly for a 2nd baseman only or LF'er only

DD usually surprises us with trades. It would be great if he ended up getting Cargo or Tulo from the Rockies for Scherzer. I know it won't happen , just sayin he always catches us off guard. Who ever he trades Max to will want to extend him no doubt.

Could the Pirates maybe jump in on Max? They have 2nd baseman Walker and LF Marte MAYBE RP's Watson or Wilson.

It's hard to say where Max will go but it looks like he is for sure headed out of town now

Why on earth would we take on the salaries of Tulo and/or C. Gonzalez (highly overrated due to home park)? They would negate the reason we would be trading Scherzer.

The perfect in every way trade of a player (or players) in exchange for Max aren't likely out there waiting for the Tigers. Due to Scherzer's contract expiring at the end of next season, we Tigers fans might and probably will be at least somewhat disappointed by what/if Max fetches in return. I just fervently hope that if so, it won't be like what the Twinks got for Santana, being OFer Carlos Gomez, (although he finally blossomed last season,...but for the brew crew) SPs Kevin Mulvey, (out of pro-ball since '12) Philip Humber (left after one season as a FA) and Deolis Guerra (career minor-leaguer).or worse, what the Tribbles obtained for Cliff Lee+Ben Francisco: SPs Carlos Carrasco (6.75 era in 46 IP last season), and Jason Knapp (out of pro-ball since '11), C Lou Marson (can't even make it as a backup C), and SS Jason Donald (traded to the Reds with Choo last off-season) ..ugh!!

Not like MI is in search of money. If you can't get that "perfect" deal then keep him and sign him to a huge contract.

I was just using them as an example. We probably have no clue the phone calls DD gets and whats being discussed.

I know Marte has some holes in his game, but he looked great the first 2 months of the season. Until he got banged up playing to hard. If he can pace himself, maybe he becomes an above avg player.

Yeah if I'm DD and the Nats are trying to get Scherzer......I'm packaging maybe a few players with him to the Nats for Bryce Harper otherwise I'm keeping Scherzer away from the Nats cause they already have a great pitching rotation and we would close the deal on them having a unstoppable rotation if we did so.... It's dumb for us to do it unless one of DD's miracles got us Harper.

Honestly I think Harper is as untouchable at the moment for the Nationals as Trout is for the Angels.
