for the state of Michigan sports this week.

1. Detroit gets a huge test from the Chicago Bears on MNF. If we win, we're instantly a legit team, despite the bears' record. If we lose, we're over hyped and overrated in the eyes of the media and other teams' fans.

2. The Tigers are down 0-1 in the ALCS after our Ace gets a loss. Win or go home!

3. The Wolverines go into EL to prove that they are real, much like the Detroit Lions are. Win and we get the sparty monkey off our back and restart the tradition of beating up on little brother. Lose and we're overrated, just as we were the last two years.

This is probably one of the biggest sports weeks in recent Michigan sports history. The Red Wings are also back on the ice, so that makes it even crazier.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm pumped!

I'm going to have to disagree about your statement on the Lions. I'm a Steeler fan(grew up watching Lions), and I know and everyone else knew they were going to be good this year. They have talent everywhere. If they lose a simple rivalry game like all good teams do, it won't make a difference in others eyes. They're legit.

Lions have talent, but not everywhere. O-line is suspect. Running game is below average. Can't make a living on second-half comebacks. We've seen this movie before. Sure they have won eight straight. Just not in the same season yet.

Good post. On the Sparty game, I agree with the overrated part, but I'm getting the sense that we will resume our Sparty dominance (which, to me, means winning 3 of every 4 or 7/8 of every ten) regardless of what happens Saturday

if Michigan and/or the Lions lose this week, I will not think either team was overrated.

Uh oh, a true Lions fan, waiting for something bad to happen.
