Get StartedJustin had something to say about that.

Anyone suspended for 80 games (means they are a repeat offender) should immediately have their contract voided. They would then go back to "rookie" status and play for league minimum for the next 3 years and be arbitration eligible for the next 2-3 years after that. It doesn't keep them from playing, it just keeps them from profiting on it. And it truly then becomes a deterrent.
There is probably no way Dee Gordon wasn't using prior to signing his 5/$50 Mil contract. Why would someone juice afterwards? And it is virtually improbable that a person gets caught the first time they use or even "accidentally" used.
The players association would never go for that...and nor should they. Hypothetically, a team could rig a drug test and get a "free player". The Yankees could have rigged a test for A-Rod and saved $100M+. And before anybody says that couldn't or wouldn't happen...$100M is a LOT of money!
They don't test their own players do they?
