Martin Mayhew looking forward to Ryan Broyles' offseason

Could have had Jordan Cameron plus a huge discount on what we are paying Pettigrew and Ebron. When ever is a top ten pick on a TE worth it? Mayhew is such a dumb fuck.

If I'm not mistaken, we can cut Pettigrew without penalty this year. We could spend this $$$ on Cameron. I'd be fine with that.

I don't see why they would keep Pettigrew anyway, with as little as he saw the field in 2014.

Now I heard it all, "Stafford is maturing as a QB." Based on what? His 3 years off mediocrity?

Cut down on his picks, smarter with the football, didn't bitch once to the public/media about a OC change, made a handful of GAME WINNING drives.

Of course an idiot like yourself wouldn't see that. lmao

How about that 4th down short slide..yeah he's really smart. Maybe if he didn't do shit for 3 1/2 quarters we wouldn't have needed a "drive"

You're getting on him for that?! That all you got?! lmao. Gruden came out and said that Lombardi's offense was complex. Lombardi came out and said he pretty much threw everything at Stafford and he absorbed it well. Better OLine play, add another RB and stay healthy, then this offense shines..

Lombardi said Stafford knew more than Brees did in his first year.

I agree with this.....however......Lombardi needs to get better too. Really questionable play calling THROUGHOUT the year. There is very little deception in his offense. When they line up with Jeb in there......they run it 90% of the time. Counter. Misdirection. Awful screen to Bush or Bell. Same scenario with Pettigrew. He's in....they run it.

Awful play action sets. Some of that is on Stafford, as the QB is responsible for how real the handoff looks......but running PA on 3rd an long is JUST short of insane. NOBODY bites. Takes the QB's eyes off the WR.

Get the TE involved. Yeah, maybe Ebron wasn't mentally ready to handle his role.....but Pettigrew played so little I hardly knew he was on the team after September. For an OC that came from a TE heavy passing attack, how is it we had SO LITTLE production from that spot? I've said it 100 times already.....why run Pettigrew on the go route against Dallas when Ebron was drafted to do JUST THAT??? Makes zero sense.

Stafford needs to improve in year 2. But IMO.....Lombardi has the biggest improvement to make..... most of it riding on his play calling.

This draft needs to be all about the front lines......offense and (if Suh leaves) defense. This team needs to get better up front before any major improvement will be seen.

The Lions can get a good TE (C. Jordan), #3 WR (Shorts, Denarius Moore, Eddie Royal should come cheap) and possible a big name OL or DL in free agency as well. Then draft up front. Maybe a late round RB and developmental QB.

Because coaches never say negative things about players they're CURRENTLY coaching!!! Especially their franchise QB.

Get your head out of your ass, moron!!!

Sometimes they do say negative things.

Stafford picked it up well. 71 scoring opportunity drives. Less turnovers. 11 wins.

But having a great RB, healthy team, great o-line, all that stuff will never happen together. NFL is all about making adjustments when things go wrong, because they ALWAYS do. It's about having a guy at the helm who can pick up the slack when the others struggle. And he hasn't been able to do that.

And please don't call this his 2nd year. It's his 7th. He's been around long enough that a new playbook shouldn't suddenly shake what he does. And it sure as hell shouldn't explain why he's STILL very inaccurate (completion percentage near the bottom of the league this year, and overall below 60). Honestly, how many organizations and fan bases put the blame on the offensive coordinator?? Is that why RG3, Geno Smith, Bortles (insert crappy QB) suck, because of play calling?

And I'm confused, if Stafford is maturing and cutting down on his picks, can't we then thank Lombardi for the play calling to allow this??

It's well known that Lombardi's offense is very complex. Multiple people have already stated the offense should be better in year 2. And it's his FIRST year in a complex offense. Go ahead and choose to ignore it, but it matters. Lombardi has already came out and said he threw more at him then he threw at Brees in 4 years. Shows how smart the kid is. You ever think it could be some of the other players not being able to catch up. TES and OL being one of them...

You know where I stand. I'm just getting exhausted with the excuse-making for the guy. It seems okay to put the blame everywhere else except him.

I had high hopes for him coming out. And he's been an average to above average quarterback, which is not acceptable. Can't call him young anymore. He's an NFL veteran. The time is running out for him to figure things out.

He is part of the blame though!! No excuses, he needs to be better as well, but stop being so fkn ignorant and putting it all on the QB.

And you're damn right I can call him young. He's 26!! He's a fkn kid..lol. He's going nowhere...

Teddy Bridgewater is a kid. Stafford is an NFL veteran. 6 years in any sport is enough to not call someone a kid anymore.

That's the dumbest thing I have ever read in my life. He's been in the NFL for 6 years so you can't call him young anymore....lol. What a laugh

He's not young in terms of the league dude.

Fine, in terms of being a human being, he's young.

But not athletically. He's already played more years than a lot of players will ever dream of. And at this point, with SIX years of NFL experience, he's not a rookie.

Who said anything about being a rookie? And he's a QB. They tend to play longer than the rest of them. Then go look at other QBs that have played the game and won a SB. Off the top of my head, I'll bet the majority of them were over the age od 25-26. Thete's plenty of time left with Stafford. Time is not running out.....give your head a shake.

Maybe so, but I would venture that a lot of those guys won at least a playoff game by this point in their career.

I'm not concerned with his overall age. I'm concerned with the fact that he's played 6 NFL seasons and really hasn't improved. He's regressed since 2011. If nothing happens next year, and he looks the same and the team misses the playoffs or flames out in round one again, it's time to put some pressure on him. He can't continue to have a cushy seat and not worry about someone behind him.

I'm all for putting pressure on him. Competition is good and he's never had it. I keep hearing that someone in the Lions organization is enamored with Bryce Petty.
