Miami is flooding due to GUESS WHAT?!?

2046 is Michigan's year?

yeah, that seemed to contradict the other claims. 2046 is the year it becomes unbearably hot there I guess... although elsewhere some of the scientists mention the upper midwest remaining comfortable.

sounds like everyone agrees the East Coast is in trouble though.

the West Coast doesn't get hurricanes, and as that edge of the continent is advancing, the shoreline rises steeply, meaning it's less at risk of flooding/inundation from rising sea levels.

Hmm, time to start buying up all those abandoned houses and decrepit lots from the City of Detroit for cheap, sell them high when Detroit becomes the new Florida. Become the next Donald Trump. Awful hair optional.

"Thumb" has a lot of letters in common with "Trump."

Trump is such a clown.

It's sad this country has enough dumb people to enable a business failure like him to go on making a living by playing a successful real estate developer on TV and licensing his name to everything possible, from a clothing label to get-rich-quick seminars. and he was taken seriously as a presidential candidate.

Did you catch the part where China is now producing more CO2 than the US and the entire European Union COMBINED.

You want to slow down CO2...get China to stop recklessly spewing it. The US and Europe are already self monitoring and working toward reductions while China is on a careless anti-environmental rampage. Why? Well, one blatant reason is to keep manufacturing costs as low as possible. That short-sightedness is what will eventually cost China big time though, as the increased pollutants are going to create massive health care problems and cost them dearly in the long run...provided they care enough about their citizens to actually provide them with adequate care as opposed to just letting them die, which China will likely see as a good thing due to their over-population issues anyway.

It's my understanding that India and Russia also don't give two shits about the environment.

yes, that must be it. Miami just needs to dig a deeper sewer. The old one was fine until seawater started flooding the city for some reason.

Yep, caught that. Not much we can do about China, though. They don't seem to care about much more than themselves - and by themselves I mean their government. All that can really happen is utilizing greener energy and making it profitable enough for them to want a piece of the pie.

They're caught in between a rock and a hard place too. There's definitely enough anger over pollution over there that it motivates the politicians. But so does maintaining the crazy growth of their economy. I think I read a few years ago GE redesigned their train engines from the ground up, hoping that if they put the work in to develop a more efficient freight train, the market would be there. I don't know if things have changed, but at least when they were 1st released, only the Chinese were interested. China is pumping a lot of money into green tech. They're just also pumping gobs of money into traditional power too.

I think I even read they were building plants to turn coal into liquid fuel that would burn clean in the cities (but twice as dirty out in the rural plants where they do the conversion.) Doubling the CO2, but moving it to the countryside. The biggest plant was going to be the size of LA. I should google that.
