Michigan Is the Most Perfect Team in College Basketball

They've certainly been impressive so far. The way they play defense reminds me of the 1999 and 2000 MSU teams. It does look like a team that could be susceptible to games where putting the ball in the hole could be a struggle, and in those games the defense will have to carry them through. That can be fatal in a one-game knockout, but it certainly looks like they'll be in the Top 10 all year. The fact that they only go 7 deep would concern me a little too.

The Big Ten looks like it's going to be a bitch this year, especially when you factor in the 20 game schedule (which I don't care for).

We have an 8-man rotation right now. Livers, Brooks, and Davis coming off the bench. I expect Johns or DeJulius will get more time as the season progresses. Hoping those two get some good PT in the six games between Purdue and IU.

I don't expect Castleton or Nunez to be ready to contribute anything this year. Castleton needs the year to get stronger and I don't expect the game to slow down for Nunez until next season.

Have to worry about peaking to early. This is so weird how well they are playing early. Imagine if the bench improves. I also worry about how games will be called. Acc verses Big Ten reminded me how that conference is always catered too. I really hate Duke and the Acc. Defense travels that is for sure but like Matt says the big ten is really good this year. Some of these games will be knock down drag out matches.

Notice the article mentions something Michigan fans talk about.
Underwhelming recuriting class. Other the Iggy.
I am pretty disappointed in the other guys. Does jb not recruit the very top guys ? This is not a indictment it’s a question. Because jb always has his younger guys players play better by seasons end. I thought DeJulis was a stud in high school and I have not seen it yet. I trust JB but imagine if he had as many top freshmen as Duke has? We would run away with the ncaa this year. I know Let Jb recruit like he does. I wonder why top guys just don’t come to him ? He puts plenty of guys into the NBA ? Is his offense to hard for kids ? Jb deserves a damn title he is such a good coach. Imagine if Zion had put on a Michigan uniform?

They're going to lose a close game or two due to their inability to shoot free throws unless something changes. That's the only real critique I have so far.

seriously, what's up with the free throws under Beilein..? Been a few years of it now

JB recruits the top guys, but we all know why they don't come here. JB won't bend even the most minor rule, so he sure as hell won't be paying for the top guys to come.

Yeah you are right T.

It’s just you look at mock NBA drafts Duke has the top 3 guys or at least 3 in the top five depending on how the draft goes. Imagine if one of those three has come to Michigan?
I just want jb to get over the top. He deserves it like you said he doesn’t break the rules.
Sometimes ncaa tournament games are called differently then regular season. Hopefully Michigan’s bench gets deeper by Season end.

Until there is reform in the sport, then 99% of the time we won't get those guys. It would take one of the top 5 recruits in the country growing up as a die-hard Wolverine fan for it to happen.

JB needs to get his national championship. It's the thing I want to see more than anything else in sports. To say he deserves it, is a huge understatement.

We never said we want JB him to break the rules Mitch. I am just wondering why the top kids never want to come to Michigan. Jb never breaks the rules is probably one of the reason right ?

The top kids go en masse to Duke, UK, and KU. It's just the way it is. They know the previous year's batch will be gone and they can all collectively walk into a starting spot, be on a contending team for a year, and then go cash their NBA paycheck. Everyone else hopes to grab one or two of those type of guys here and there and hope they can make enough of an impact and mesh with the other guys there for real success to happen before they also move on. A few schools get more of those type of kids than others. And those that can't land them very often make due trying to mold teams with 4 year guys (or 2-3 year guys who developed more than expected, as seems to be the case with Beilein).

And yeah some of those programs are cheating to get those guys.

Do it fair and we were better than all but 1 team last season. It'll come. I despise programs that cheap to win titles.

When Trey Burke nailed that GW 3-ptr vs Kansas the other year ...while in a bar FILLED with KU fans here in Colorado, it was wonderful. The level of whining and excuse-making was off the charts. I love being the program we are now and coached by a guy ....a man, like Beilein.

Calipari should have been banned by the NCAA by now and even 'elite' programs like Arizona, UNC and others are tied up in Sneakergate.

I had a similar experience at a bar in Marina Del Rey when we beat them in the Sweet 16 in 2009 - it was me & my uofm brother surrounded by KU fans. They, especially a group of 4 or 5 twenty-something girls were hard to stomach all night. In they end, they were not happy.

As for UNC, sneakergate is small potatoes compared to what they did - they literally made up classes and had other students do the work for "student" athletes to keep them eligible. And they pretty much got away with it - unless I'm not remembering correctly, their "punishment" was basically being told not to do it anymore. They could be part of a trillion dollar scam and it wouldn't be as shameful as what they've done academically. Given that everyone knows how corrupt the NCAA is, I think their reaction to that scandal is also a bigger indictment of that organization than any pay for play stuff that literally everyone knows goes on.

I don’t know what The Ringer is but Mark Titus shouldn’t be allowed in front of a wordprocessor based on the fallacy in the article title alone.

That’s a joke-I understand he was using figurative language.

Anyway I’m ready to hop on and be a bandwagon Michigan basketball fan for one of the most perfect teams in the country if not the most perfect.

I wouldn't really count Davis in the rotation. He is getting like 2 or 3 minutes a game. Does that count? They said he got in against UNC, but I never realized it.

It is basically a 7 man rotation, which is worrisome. Someone is going to get tired.

They looked horrible the first 2 games, but they've looked great since. Going to be a fun year.

I could still see them having trouble with Duke, Gonzaga, Kansas, Kentucky, Virginia, UW, MSU, and a Syracuse. Some of those teams, because they play very good defense. Foul trouble for someone in the rotation could be a big problem, too, especially if they run into some ref that is whistle happy

Who is the tall, thin bald ref? Seems that guy has it in for Michigan.

All of them are.
