There is a game this Saturday. Are we as a board just not going to discuss it?

The only sporting event I've attended and been more miserable than during last year's miserable, rain-soaked interception suckfest was the Broncos loss at home to the Ravens in the AFC Playoffs when it was -5 degrees out and my brother puked all over the inside of my wife's car.

I don't want to say much about this...

I don't want to give them any more chips for their shoulders. They already have them stacked so high on each shoulder, they're falling off on their own, and they look ridiculous

I wouldn't worry about that much. Spartys here jumped ship with that NW loss. They didn't even make a thread for the Penn State game. If they're looking on this board and not even posting on their own, it says more than enough about them.

Michigan is the better team right now and SHOULD win the game. MSU is pretty banged up, and it seems like Lewerke isn't playing quite as dynamically as he did a year ago. Having said that it's a rivalry game and anything can happen as we all know. Here are my thoughts/keys to the game:

1. Get the lead early. Michigan has come out sluggish in some games, especially on the road. They cannot afford to do this against MSU. MSU is brimming with confidence against us, and Michigan must take the crowd out of it and get the first good punch in this fight. If they don't, it will only fuel MSU's confidence and make a win that much tougher.

2. Protect the ball. Overall Michigan's been pretty decent at this. We lost this game last year thanks to O'Korn's 5 turnovers, no more no less. Can't do it again.

3. Open up the offense. MSU's strength is stopping the run. Michigan is going to have to get creative at times and go for some big plays in this game. I don't think we're going to be able to get many long 10+ play drives going.

4. On defense take Felton Davis out of the game as much as possible. He's extremely dangerous and should be a top priority. If he has a big game we're in trouble.

5. Assume any and all special teams plays are fakes. Dantonio loves pulling out trick plays in big games. If we are caught by surprise on any of them I will be furious.

6. OLine has to come up huge. Protect Patterson at all costs. When he has time we've seen he's been very very good. If not he can get happy feet and potentially make mistakes or get sacked for a big loss.

Make no mistake it's a dogfight. Every year we take MSU lightly is another year they beat us. We better be ready.

PTSD hates your logical take!! lol

I’m excited.

Doing the stuff I normally do during the week but very excited.

Don’t have much else to say,

It's going to be another tough game. Similar to Wiscy. The team better be ready. I''m hoping for a similar outcome to the Wiscy game, but it is on the road and Sparty is always tough. GO BLUE!

One thing I'm really curious about is MSU's run defense.

They lead the nation in this stat, and it's not even close... but PennState ran for 200+ yards on them.
Do they have a good defense, or have they just not played any teams that try to run the ball (except for PSU)?

The only State game I've watched is the first 1/2 of their game @ ASU, which was basically just an early season game of incompetent offenses trying to figure out their identity.

This board has about 4 people who post semi-regularly, pretty small sample size but I do agree that MSU fans are a bunch of crybabies. If they struggle at all they say that we need to fire a bunch of assistants and that our offense is out of date, then the next week they're back in love with the staff. UM fans are overly optimistic, thinking everyone is going to be an All American but MSU fans are quick to jump ship at the first sign of adversity, strange extremes for both fan bases.

PSU averaged 7 YPC on 30 carries when you remove the sack and PSU kneel down. Hopefully our o-line and RBs can put up a similar performance.

No one on the MSU DSF board is back in love with the staff, that's simply not true. That may be the case with The Only Colors or whatever other forum you read but I'm pretty sure everyone here knows beating Penn State doesn't redeem anyone on the coaching staff.

that average is a bit distorted because PSU broke two big runs - they got 135 yards on 2 plays and 70 on the other 30 attempts. Giving up big plays, particularly in the passing game has been our Achilles heal. I don't know if our rush defense is as good as it's thought to be - it hasn't really been tested since it's been so easy to throw at will against us, why run when you're guaranteed to be open 20 yards down field?

Well, I bet all 4 Sparty fans show up on Saturday if the game is even close.

Yeah I remember Psu getting some really long runs that we are unlikely to do. Hopefully They will remember that against Michigan MSU likes those blitzes off the center . Patterson needs to be ready for those . He also needs to protect the ball. He carries it way to loosely. Also on defense I would double Davis and we have to be careful watching screen passes. My guess is with MSU line be undermanned so far this year they try some of those . Oh running qb.. please mr Brown put a spy on BL! Qb draws will be used.

Like has been mentioned all field goals and punts be aware of fakes .

so funny that you say "if the game is even close"

Keep in mind that Michigan hasn't blown MSU out since 2006, we've covered the point spread for the last 10 years, Harbaugh has been at least a 1 TD favorite every year and is 1-2, but yeah, a blowout is on the way.

Michigan hasn't beaten a ranked team on the road since 2006, 0-17, but yeah, get ready for a rout.

There isn't a fan base in the country that should be more cautiously optimistic about expectations than UM, but every year, Charlie Brown lines up to kick the field goal.

after a couple attempts at getting involved, I decided that in-game threads are a total waste of time. All I do now is log in for post game discussion and to look at how many pages of whining were created on the uofm board during their game.

it's so funny that you say crap like this when there's a 20+ page thread for every single michigan game. you guys are the toast champions of the internet.

it's just this board really which is a little slice of it. there are a few prominent UM boards like mgoblue which i've never looked at, I created an account for RCMB but that's just a jungle filled with the type of whiny MSU fans I mentioned earlier. I think the online activity is pretty similar. this board is a spill over from the old ESPN days when they ended up closing their message boards.
