Only downside for me was the constant reminder of how much talent nova lost and that it'll take a while for them to get on a roll. Helllloooo! We lost like half of our scoring, rebounds, and our emotional leader on the court. Barely a mention of it. Oh well. Theyre still a great team and we got a big time road win.
Don't forget how tough Paschall is and how strong!!!
but yeah, the fact that Divincenzo wasn't there helped a lot. I cringed everytime they tried saying that it was Villanova's great defense that won the national championship game or any of the other dozen ways they tried to explain the victory. Divinzenzo went off and was unstoppable and scored 31, way over his avg, and that is the only reason they won. He hit many contested shots. There was no secret formula to how Villanova won.
Exactly. One guy beat us sadly. Man he was on fire.
I think that's disingenuous honestly. Yeah one guy scored 31 but it was by no means a one man show. Michigan ran out of gas in that game, and Villanova showed they had stronger depth and a stronger team. 4 of their players are now in the NBA. Bridges scored 19 in that game, and Spellman nearly had a double double too. We scored only 62 points so they must have been doing something right on the defensive end as well. Brunson was a stud player and he didn't even do that much.
Nobody who watched that said "Nova was lucky Divencenzo went off!" It was obvious they were better sadly. Glad we got at least a little bit of payback.
